In a long blog post, Jasper Byrne has explained the reasons for halting the project he's been working on for months, and shared the news that his flagship game Lone Survivor will be coming to PS3 and Vita.
In “The Bad News”, Byrne reveals that the dungeon crawler he has been working on for six months was to be called NEW GAME+, but that he will now need to abandon the game because he “can't physically do it”. Byrne was working on the game on his own, and had reached a stage where he was progressing far too slowly and getting frustrated with the amount of work he had to do. He apologises to fans who might have been looking forward to the game, represented in a few initial mockups on the site, but does say that if he finds himself with a team at a later date he might well return to it.
So to “The Good News”, and the simple announcement that Lone Survivor is being recoded by Curve Studios for release on the PS3 and Vita. “It's been a dream of mine since childhood to release a game on console,” Byrne says, “And especially the Sony ones as I love what they do most of all.”
Lone Survivor is a critically-acclaimed survival horror game currently only available on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Will you get it when it comes out on console? Or do you think it's a better fit with a keyboard and mouse?
