It’s a slippery slide into the world of decals, customisation and console skins. But nostalgia is a powerful force, and it was strong enough to prompt Clown TV, a Nintendo Switch owner, to redecorate the console using a beautiful Super Famicom (SNES) theme.
Clown TV originally posted the images to Ruliweb.com, a Korean forum that specialises in video games and entertainment. On the top left hand corner of the screen, he superimposed the Nintendo Super Famicom logo, and made sure all the buttons (L, R, ZL, ZR and X, A, Y and B) received the same attention to detail. It’s not just a surface job either, the inside of each Joy-Con is covered as well. He went so far as to customise the dock itself, and although the power, eject and reset buttons can’t actually be pressed, the results are extremely pleasing to the eye.
There’s also a video of Clown TV removing the POP skin from the Nintendo Switch. It’s painful to watch, and will most certainly shatter the nostalgic illusion – viewer discretion is advised.
