The latest content drop for Gears of War 4 features two brand new maps, enhancements for Windows 10 users, and the return of Benjamin Carmine, who sadly met his end during the events that transpired during Gears of War 2.
These maps are known as Dawn and Security and will be available for play starting tomorrow. Dawn is a brand new map set in the scenic Outsider village built around an abandoned mining facility. According to The Coalition, Dawn combines two defensive structures at either end of the map, mixing tight corridors with open spaces and a Dropshot spawn point that encourages players to take risks with their gameplay.
Security is a re-imagining of the popular Gears of War 2 multiplayer map updated to support Gears of War 4 style gameplay and respawn modes like team deathmatch. The map is now based around a COG depository, complete with stacks of gold bars that provide makeshift cover and defensive lasers that cut off access to certain areas until they are deactivated by a player.
Windows 10 players who use multiple graphics cards are also getting support with this update. Benjamin Carmine is also making his return to the series…as a zombie. Players will have a chance to unlock him in the May Gear Packs. All of this new content arrives just in time for Season 1 of competitive multiplayer.
It works similarly to Overwatch where players play a number of placement matches to determine their rank, and then are placed into a tier. Rewards for the season depend on the player’s ultimate rank with the best being the Diamond Weapon Skin set for top players.
