Nintendo has released its first US commercial for the Wii U. It is primarily targeted at mainstream audiences, who probably have next to no clue it even exists. It features heavily on kids, teens, families and even a couple enjoying different options that the Wii U has to offer.
It's definitely not aimed at hardcore or the stereotype of a gamer (you don't see any fat, nerdy guys in the basement) as it portrays all kinds of age groups, ethnicities and both genders doing all sorts of unlikely things with the Wii U. In one scenario, what appears to be a teenaged girl is holding a concert in her what seems to be her room or home by singing into the Gamepad. Yeah, right.
But the commercial shouldn't turn off anyone who's a hardcore gamer, because they already likely knew the broad audience Nintendo wants to reach. Though they might have a problem with the fact that Nintendo wants to have its cake and eat it too (i.e. appeal to both mainstream and hardcore audiences). Watch the brief commercial below.
