The latest installment to The Legend of Zelda franchise is Breath of the Wild which came out March of this year with stellar video game reviews. Since then, there has been an increased interest at the prototype that was made when the developers at Nintendo first looked at creating the latest video game release.
One developer took an interest in the 2D prototype so much that he started work on bringing a version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to the 2D retro style glory. Known as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the NES, gamers can try the title out right now through a demo download.
Overall, the demo allows players to check out some of the mechanics of the video game, explore some of the overworld, along with checking out a variety of items. Unfortunately, there’s no official release date on when we can expect to see this fan project from WinterDrake.
Available to download from an itch.io page, WinterDrake makes note that he is looking for other team members to help along with the project, but seeing how this is an unofficial release, Nintendo will likely shutdown the project before it is able to get too far into development.
Regardless, the project is still available to check out for yourself right here. Again, we don’t suspect the video game to last too long with Nintendo normally shutting down fan projects of their IP franchises.
