In Puppeteer, you play Kutaro, a little boy who has been turned into a puppet and is trying to escape from the castle of the evil Moon Bear King. Using a pair of giant, magical scissors, you cut your way through various fairy tale backdrops and pass through dozens of quickly changing environments. One of the environments is “Hallowee Ville”, and Sony has collected a bunch of moments from Kutaro's trip through this world in honour of Halloween.
In the trailer, we see a pumpkin in a witch's hat (not to be trusted, according to the spooky-voiced narrator), ghosts, and a vampire who laments the fact that Kutaro is not a virgin bride. And Kutaro gets to use his magical scissors to cut through a giant cobweb.
Puppeteer was announced at Gamescom in August of this year, and we don't yet have a release date for it. While its creepy feel would make it apt for a Halloween launch next year, I hope it'll come out sooner than that. This looks like a totally fresh game with a lot of effort put into it by its creators, and I don't want to have to wait a whole year to play it.
