With the Nintendo Switch doing so well since its launch last month, many analysts are wondering what’s next for the company. Well, thanks to a new report from Bloomberg Technology, analyst are predicting Nintendo to release a new version of the Switch called the Switch Mini in 2019.
Here’s what the Citigroup analysts – Minami Munakata, Kota Ezawa, and Alicia Ya, had to say:
“Although the Nintendo Switch can be used as a handheld device, we think smaller children could struggle to use it comfortably in that format due to its size and weight,” the analysts wrote in an April 13 report. “Accordingly, we think Nintendo will launch a lighter, dedicated handheld version of the Switch, possibly to be called the Switch Mini.”
Bloomberg then goes onto say:
“The new console is doing well, but is too big to truly combine home and portable gaming for everyone. That’s why they (Citigroup Analysts) expect the Kyoto-based company to release a smaller version of the Switch in the fiscal year through March 2019”
There is no doubt that the Switch is a massive success. The new console outsold both the PS4 and Xbox One this month, which is no easy feat. Will Nintendo make a Mini Switch? We don’t know yet but expect to see more variants like the newly announced ‘Yellow” version of the console to release as the life span of the console increases.
What’s your take? Would you want to see a mini Switch or would you rather them keep the Nintendo 3DS alive? Let us know in the comments below!
