Activision is sparing no expense in marketing its upcoming Call of Duty game and it shows in Black Ops 2's latest trailer.
Simply titled "Surprise," the spot is directed by Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Sherlock Holmes) and features a few well known people in it. I admit though, I can't name each and everyone in it. The obvious highlight is Robert Downey Jr. piloting a jet. Yes, the same Robert Downey Jr. from Iron Man. I take it having Guy Ritchie direct the spot had something to do with it, no?
Now here's where you guys come in. Aside from Downey and Jack Black, there are a few more noteworthy people involved that I can't name at the moment. So if you do, just put 'em in the comments below. Oh, is it bad that I notice the guy with the drones at the end is FPSRussia but I can't name the other actors?
Same with the other TV spots, this one doesn't show any gameplay. But seeing as it is a Call of Duty game, does it even need to? However, the use of drones, and other equipment that will be in the game coupled with the live actors is a nice touch, I have to admit.
Before the commercial ends, we get to see the trailer's "hero" look around and see the place overrun with zombies. I take it they included it just to remind the two people in the world that didn't know there would be zombies in Black Ops 2.
This "there's a solider in all of us" slogan and using celebrities to hype the game is nothing new to the Call of Duty franchise. Black Ops 1 had Jimmy Kimmel and Kobe Bryant pimping the game out and seeing as that game had the best sales in Call of Duty history, I take it their marketing worked.
Which actors and actresses did you see make an appearance? Does the game even need this kind of commercials to sell more copies?
