Mario, if you’re listening to this transmission, we could use your help: Nintendo Switch Consoles are warping out of shape after being left docked for too long. The issue was raised by Reddit user _NSR just yesterday. This isn’t the first problem to surface for Nintendo’s latest console, which has also been plagued by Joy-Con desynchronisation problems, bricking, glitching out, and dead pixels on screen. Now, a warped console is being added to the list, which at this stage seems to be a relatively isolated issue – hopefully it stays that way.
As for why the consoles aren’t staying in shape, followup comments in the Reddit thread have offered battery issues and thermal expansions as possible explanations, and several reports online have suggested that it may be due to a faulty console. The reasons could even overlap with the iPhone 6 #BendGate issue, where excessive pressure applied to the Achilles’ heel of such a delicate piece of technology distorts its structure. Fortunately, the distortion doesn’t appear to influence gameplay negatively in any way.
The Nintendo Switch has been out for a month now. It’s still selling well – not as well as the Nintendo Wii U did in Japan during its heyday, but better than the PlayStation 4 during its launch month.
