In the wake of recent firings at Zynga, massive layoffs have also hit Boston-based Turbine Games, which is owned by Warner Bros. Needless to say, it's not looking like a good week for the game industry.
The layoffs hit the company despite Turbine Games' announcement that it had expanded with a few high-profile hires including veteran game designer Ken Rolston (via GI.biz), former lead designer of the Elder Scrolls.
Speaking to GamesIndustry, a representative told the publication that the layoffs were a part of "the continual review of our business operations and fluctuating market conditions."
Turbine Games is known for its development of Asheron's Call, Dungeons & Dragons Online, and the more recent Lord of the Rings Online. The company was acquired by Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment in 2010.
