The house that Big Macs built is teaming up with the developer that Angry Birds put on the map, for an initiative that's on the behalf of customers who dine at McDonalds across China, The Unofficial Apple Weblog reports.
The game is location based and thusly isl only available onsite at participating restaurants. It features the rotund, green tinted swine protecting various McDonalds menu items from the agitated avians.
Rovio has been shrewdly aligning themselves with notable brands as of late, with the most recent prior examples being Angry Birds Star Wars. One wondered how they could ever top Darth Vader.
But it can be argued that Ronald McDonald is indeed bigger and more powerful. The video below shows one of the levels from Angry Birds McDonalds in action, but it's a tad bit perplexing.
First off, what a way to blow a perfect opportunity to utilize the IP; you'd think the golden arches would be used as part of the slingshot, but nope.
Furthermore, the pigs are the bad guys supposedly, but aren't they just protecting their meals from the so-called good guys, who are nothing more than scavengers and thieves?
Then again, given he recent success of the Angry Birds spin-off, Bad Piggies, this might be part of Rovio's continues effort to cast them in a better, more sympathetic light.
