Borderlands Legends Brings Post-Apocalyptic Strategy to the iOS

October 24, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

Borderlands comes to the iOS in this full-fledged strategy game.

Borderlands Legends

Borderlands is coming to the iOS devices (including the iPad and iPhone 5) in the form of an all new game starring the original Borderlands four. Players will loot, level up, and kill hordes of bandits in this strategy game.

As their unseen, godlike commander, you will oversee the command and control of Brick, Lilith, Mordecai and Roland from an overhead perspective. As a squad, the four characters will encounter all of the enemies we've grown to love over the series, including Skags, Bandits, Crimson Lance, and Spider Ants.

The characters' skill trees are also loosely based around their abilities in Borderlands, with each character possessing three action skills and six abilities—the latter of which supports five tiers.

Unlike Borderlands and its sequel, missions in Borderlands Legends will be driven by randomized objectives and randomized maps, with enemy difficulty scaling alongside player levels. Other elements are similar to the original games, as you'll be able to purchase weapons and gear from Marcus, and even revive yourself from a lethal wound with Second Wind by killing an enemy before you die.

Players will also engage in a variety of boss battles and earn rewards for doing so.

The combat system in Borderlands Legends appears to be very much like the one present in XCOM: Enemy Unknown and allows squadmates to make full use of a cover system instead of running out into the open.

Screenshots of the game can be seen below.
