Activision has just revealed (via CallofDuty.com) that a live-action Black Ops 2 is on the way, and is set for release on an iPhone app called Action FX.
The Action FX app can be downloaded for free from the iTunes store here. It allows you to add special effects to movies on your iPad and iPhone. Here’s a description of the app:
“Add Hollywood FX from Call of Duty®: Black Ops 2 near-future weapons to your iPhone® and iPad® videos! Instantly use the Hellstorm Missile and the EMP with Escort Drone crash. To unlock the Dragonfire Drones, scan any Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 artwork or share the app on Facebook or Twitter. On October 29th, you can unlock the CLAW by simply watching the trailer inside the app.”
The app comes with a variety of special effects, including the EMP, Hellstorm Missile, Dragonfire Drones, and Quadrotor. To unlock some of them, you’ll have to share the app on Twitter or Facebook or scan a logo of Black Ops 2.
Here’s what they look like:
Finally, Treyarch’s Mark Lamia, Dan Bunting and Jimmy Zielinski have given an interview with GameTrailers about Black Ops 2. They discuss the multiplayer elements of the game and what they’re doing to differentiate it from Modern Warfare 3. It’s nothing we haven’t already heard, but it’s well worth the watch.
Black Ops 2 is set for a November 13 release on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
