You may have already finished through the final expansion released for Dark Souls 3 and it may even have you itching for a new installment. Well, unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there are any plans in the foreseeable future when it comes to a new installment of the Dark Souls franchise.
The news regarding this comes from Wccftech which reported on From Software’s game director and president’s latest interview. Hidetaka Miyazaki created a well-beloved franchise and when he spoke to a Japanese gaming magazine known as Famitsu, the famed game director and president of From Software unveiled that Dark Souls is done for now.
While the development team over at From Software doesn’t have any future releases in mind just yet, Miyazaki did speak of how he didn’t implement all that he wanted and each installment to the franchise had their own mistakes.
Currently, the development team is working on several other titles, though it’s not stated if any of them will have the same feel and vibe as to the past Dark Souls franchise.
With these recent statements released, it seems that we may not see a Dark Souls VR installment. A few months earlier, Dark Souls 3 producer did state that the development team was hoping to release a VR installment in the future.
For now, we’ll have to wait and see what the development team over at From Software is working on next. Perhaps we’ll get a small sneak peek of their current projects during E3 of this year, though it may not make an appearance until the Tokyo Game Show.
