There's nothing more boring than spending time at the office and staring at your monitor with no work to do. If you've time to burn, then here are ten great online games you can play right through your browser.
Canabalt
This simple side-scroller features a running man with unlimited stamina. He's caught in what appears to be an alien invasion and breaking out of his office by jumping through the window, he finds himself in perpetual motion as he runs across rooftops, jumps great distances and stumbles into crates and barrels along the way. It can kind of hurt to watch him jump into the side of a building, especially when you've managed to get him to run over a distance of over 10,000 meters.
Canabalt has a catchy, repeating soundtrack and allows you to post your scores onto Facebook and Twitter. You can even play it on your iPhone.

Scarygirl
Scarygirl can be best described as a platformer and an adventure game with puzzles. It would be a complete understatement to call this game a clever piece of work, if not a work of art. Given Scarygirl's quality, it's hard to believe that it is completely free — but it is, and it's available for you to play right on your browser.
Really. I'm not doing this game any justice by trying to describe it. Just see it for yourself.

Faith Fighter
Ever wish you could make Jesus and Buddha duke it out in the ring while some holy city burns in the background? Well, now you can. With Molleindustria's Faith Fighter, you can pretend to be your favorite imaginary deity and battle against the AI in a Mortal Kombat-styled tournament or fight against the person sitting right next to you. Or invite your dog if you'd like to have an easy victory. Be sure to play the game to its final boss–the surprise is worth it. It's games as art, and in this particular painting, it's a scene of religious figures beating the hell out of each other.
Caution: This game is not for the easily offended.

Fantastic Contraption
Create your very own Rube Goldberg machine with this neat little physics-based game. You have to build your own solutions to solve each level. And if you're feeling particularly proud of your accomplishments, you can even save your creations for others to see. Designed by Colin Northway, Fantastic Contraption runs in any Flash-capable browser (sorry, IPad users!) and takes its cues from the classic Incredible Machine series of games. You can't miss it.

Robot Unicorn Attack
Robot Unicorn Attack can best be described as Canabalt on acid. This sidescrolling runner has it all: It has robots, unicorns and rainbows and an Erasure song in the background. What more could you wish for? Well, for starters, you could wish to become a star. With Robot Unicorn Attack, all your dreams can come true. I swear I am not tripping balls right now.

Cursed Treasure: Don't Touch My Gems
Simply put, Cursed Treasure is a Tower Defense game, but it's one with a twist. In this Cursed Treasure, you play the bad guys. Instead of fending off hordes of marauding orcs and evil wizards from attacking your keep, you have to protect your precious family jewels from being stolen by heroes by building a maze of towers to keep the do-gooders at bay. Cursed Treasure takes the Tower Defense a step further by incorporating RPG elements and three specialization trees that you can upgrade throughout the game.

Feed the King
You may have heard the phrase, "The cake is a lie". Well, it's not in Feed the King. Taking some stylistic cues from Fat Princess, Feed the King has you stacking up cakes as high as you can as the king eats them. He makes some of the most epic cake nomming sounds ever.

Achievement Unlocked
It's possible to spend hundreds of hours unlocking achievements and trophies on Steam, XBL and PSN, and hundreds more on challenges in games like Modern Warfare 2. Wouldn't it be great if you could play a game that removed all those pesky gameplay bits and gave you what you really came for — achievements? No, really. Who cares about beating levels, following a coherent story or finding ways to win the game when you can collect achievements? If that's what you think games are for, then Achievement Unlocked is the game for you.

Winterbells
In Winterbells, you control a snowshoe bunny that soars high into the clouds as you hop on falling bells drifting down from the night sky. It's simple, cute, and easily one of the most addictive games I've ever played.
