Orbs are the premium resource de jour you’ll need to unlock your favorite characters in Fire Emblem Heroes.
It costs exactly 3 Orbs ($1.99 at the time of writing) to unlock a hero, and you’ll get a load of free orbs just for completing the tutorial. If you’re looking for a specific hero, or want to try your luck for the best possible hero available on your first gacha roll, there’s a handy exploit you can take advantage of — and remember, don’t link your Nintendo account until you’re happy with your heroes!
This fancy exploit comes straight from the good people at the Fire Emblem community on Reddit.

Use This Trick To Get 5-Star Heroes | Exploit Guide
[NOTE: After starting up Fire Emblem Heroes for the first time, you’ll get a message asking if you’d like to link your Nintendo Account. DON’T LINK YOUR NINTENDO ACCOUNT — Not yet, anyway! You’ll receive some rewards for linking accounts, but doing so will make this super-handy trick impossible.]
The early portion of Fire Emblem Heroes rewards you with a pretty big bunch of Orbs — 17 for completing the short tutorial, and 3 more for finishing the first three Story Missions. That’s a total of 20 Orbs for only 10-15~ minutes of work.
Orbs are used to summon heroes — and the more heroes you summon in one group, up to five at a time, the more you’ll get a discount. If you summon all 5 available Heroes, it’ll only cost 20 Orbs. You can also skip the Story Missions and use your 17 Orbs from the Tutorial to unlock 4 Heroes.
So, what’s the exploit? The trick is all about rerolls. Heroes in Fire Emblem Heroes are unlocked randomly — it’s a gacha system — and the best heroes are pretty rare. Because getting through the Tutorial (and optional +3 Story Missions) is so quick and easy, you can simply delete / uninstall Fire Emblem Heroes after summoning your first batch of Heroes. If you didn’t like your results, you can delete / uninstall, then re-download and try again to get the best heroes.
5-Star Heroes are the best, and some 5-Star Heroes ONLY appear at the 5-Star level. Some heroes, like Robin, can appear as 3-Star, 4-Star, or 5-Star versions, but the rarest of the rare are exclusively 5-Star characters.
It might sound complicated, but it’s extremely simple. Here’s what you’ll want to do:
Reroll Exploit – Step-by-Step Guide
- Start a new game. Do not link your Nintendo Account.
- Link your account later when you’re happy with your first group of heroes.
- Download the required updates and complete the tutorial for 15 Orbs (+2 Orbs Login Bonus), totally free.
- Optionally, you can also complete the first three Story Missions (+3 Orbs) for a total of 20 Orbs.
- Select “Summon” from the main menu. Here you can spend Orbs to summon random heroes.
- Spend all your Orbs on this screen — all at once to get a summoning discount.
- Summoning five Heroes at the same time will lower the price; each Hero will only cost 3 Orbs to summon each.
- Didn’t like the Heroes you received? Didn’t get any 5-Star Heroes? Delete / Uninstall! Then reinstall, rinse and repeat until you get the Heroes you want.
- Hold-Press and tap the [X] on Fire Emblem Heroes to delete on iOS.
- Select “Uninstall” on Android.
Starting out with at least one 5-Star Hero will make the game so much easier in your early adventures. Everyone is doing it, and this way you can roll for the Heroes you want specifically. It all depends on how much patience you’ve got — you can try as often as you like!
The Rarest Heroes
During the weeks of 2/1/17-2/15/17, certain 5-Star Focus characters have a greater chance of appearing during summons, but every character has a chance to unlock. Currently, the following 5-Star Heroes have a 3% chance of unlocking on each roll.
