Star Wars: Force Arena is a MOBA, and if you don’t know what that is, or aren’t familiar with the genre, then don’t worry. Force Arena is a totally different beast, and anyone can play and enjoy this casual F2P game on iOS and Android. I’m no master of MOBA, but after playing plenty of hours, we’ve seen the same mistakes made by early players over and over again.
Let’s cover the basics of gameplay: you play as a hero in 1vs1 or 2vs2 battles on 2-lane maps. The goal is to destroy your opponent’s Shield Generator, but you’ll need to defeat the turrets first. Each team has three turrets, and you’ll gain one point for each turret you destroy — kills don’t matter here, it’s all about destroying the enemy turrets. If you don’t destroy the Shield Generator before the time limit, victory goes to whichever team destroys the most turrets. To aid your hero, you can summon Units to fight and unleash powerful special attacks.
Whether you’re new to the game, or just want some easy victories on the road to Tier 2, we’ve got a handful of useful tips that’ll work for every hero.

5 Beginner Tips To Help You Get Started
Before we get to the tips, here are a few things you’ll want to do right away before diving too deep into the 1vs1 or 2vs2 battles.
- Complete the tutorial. You’ll unlock 2 heroes for the Empire and 2 heroes for the Rebellion, get lots of credits / crystals, a free Premium Booster, and more.
- Check your deck and upgrade. Upgrades cost credits, but early on you’ll have plenty to spend. If you got any duplicates, you’ll see a blue glow underneath the unit card. Upgrade! If you upgrade enough, you’ll go up one player level.
- Join a guild. Guilds allow you to take part in 2vs2 battles (once you unlock them) — and you’ll be able to summon friends for teamwork before joining a 2vs2 battle. You can make your own or join a random one.
With all that out of the way, let’s get into our 5 tips to help you get started.
#1: Send In The Clones — Summon Units Or Use Turrets
Unit Cards are you primary resource in Star Wars: Force Arena, and using them effectively will make all the difference. You’ll always want to leap into battle with back-up. Always summon these helps before moving in for an attack — whether it’s against enemy turrets or leaders.
- Don’t forget about allies in 2vs2 battles, and hide within your turret’s range to help drop extra firepower on your opponent.
Basically, you never want to fight an enemy leader alone. Look at the map, see which lane your opponent is moving toward, then summon your first batch of Unit Cards to help you fight. Try to summon them before your opponent gets close, and keep in mind what each unit can do — heavy tanks are great for soaking up damage, snipers / rocket troops can stay out of turret range and do extra damage.
#2: Survival Is Key — Retreat and Heal
Staying alive is the most important part of Star Wars: Force Arena. If your leader dies, you’ll have to wait for a short timer countdown before you respawn. That’s time you won’t be able to recharge energy or summon units. If you’re in a losing fight, run away!
- To escape a battle, double-tap the screen to sprint. Run back to collect the green health pick-ups — usually one is enough — and continue the battle. If your opponent foolishly chased you, they can often be easily defeated.
Running away is an important strategy. There’s no reason to stick around when you’re losing. It also helps too steal your opponent’s health pick-ups. Those spawn behind the turrets, and if you grab them after a successful battle, the enemy leader will have one fewer place to run.
#3: Unleash Special Attacks Early And Often
When you’re locked in a battle against an enemy hero, it helps to have your special attack on standby. Don’t leap into a battle and waste your special on basic units — you’ll want that special attack to hit the hero or the enemy turret for maximum damage.
- Check your hero’s special attack: some special attacks are Area-Of-Effect, and work really well against clusters of enemies. Others are powerful against a single unit.
Special Attacks recharge often, so there’s no reason not to use them at the beginning of a fight… unless you’re worried about your opponent escaping for extra health. If that happens, save your special and unleash it when your opponent’s health is down to one or two pips.
And don’t forget about your air-strikes! Tie Fighter or X-Wing cards are incredibly useful against clusters of enemies, and you can launch strikes outside of attack range. If enemies are attacking a turret, drop an air-strike card to soften up the enemy’s units, then move in for the kill. It’s really satisfying.
#4: Don’t Rush! Take Your Time And Attack Every Opening
You might think it’s a good idea to rush toward the Shield Generator and end things immediately. Well, battles never really work out that way — after each fight, you’ll be drained, and after a few seconds, the enemy Leader will be back on his or her feet with a full energy meter.
Instead of rushing, wait for the enemy hero to come to you. Defeat them with help from your turrets, then launch an attack on an enemy turret while your opponent is stuck with a respawn counter. After the turret is destroyed, heal up and retreat. Don’t push your luck!
- Harass the enemy while they’re busy. Send Snipers / Rocket Launcher troops down the lane opposite the enemy hero. These units will attack turrets outside their range, so the units won’t be destroyed by the turret.
The longer you’re alive and destroying turrets, the more energy you’ll have to summon units.
#5: Check Your Deck And Customize For Best Results
Check that Deck often, because it isn’t always immediately clear how each card words, and why you’ll want to summon certain cards. One Stormtrooper or Rebel looks pretty similar to another, and if you don’t know the differences, it’s time to start exploring the Card Collection.
- Check each card for:
- Type: Is the unit a squad or a single unit?
- Attack Type: Focuses on a single target, attacks multiple targets, or does AOE damage?
- Advantages: What is the unit strong / weak against
The Card Collection allows you to check out every card you’ve unlocked; you’ll find stats, strengths, and weaknesses. Each unit is strong or weak vs. other units, and you’ll want to learn those match-ups early. It makes life so much easier.
As you collect more cards, you’ll begin to get duplicates. This is important — the more duplicates you get, the more you can upgrade units.
- Units can be upgraded once you collect enough duplicate cards.
- Example: A Stormtrooper can be upgraded after collecting 2 Stormtrooper cards.
- Upgrading units will earn you Player XP — once you get enough, you’ll gain a Player Level and gain upgraded turrets / shield generator.
Keep track of your deck, earn more Card Packs, and keep playing to really get into the fun of Star Wars: Force Arena.
