Cuphead is an upcoming run and gun style platformer by development team Studio MDHR. The story revolves around a character known as Cuphead who loses a bet against the devil and in order to repay that debt, he must take out a series of bosses.

Really, Cuphead is gaining all kinds of attention online simply due to its design. Studio MDHR has developed Cuphead in order to look similar to a 1930s cartoon. The visuals look incredible and the gameplay seems relatively smooth though we won’t know until it releases at some point in 2017.

Pikmin

Developer: Nintendo
Publisher: Nintendo
Platforms: 3DS
Release Date: TBA 2017

Fans have been eagerly awaiting for a new installment to the Pikmin franchise. In the past, we have heard statements from the series creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, that a new installment would be coming out into the market. According to Miyamoto, Nintendo has been working on a new Pikmin title and that there were different ideas that the famed developer thought about doing to the series.

During a Nintendo Director on September 1, 2016, Nintendo unveiled a new Pikmin title that would be a side-scrolling action game for the 3DS and would be slated to launch at some point in 2017. What is unconfirmed is if this is the next main installment that Shigeru Miyamoto previously stated was in the works or a spinoff.

Sonic Mania

Developer: Headcannon, PagodaWest Games
Publisher: Sega
Platforms: PC, PS4, XB1
Release Date: Q2 2017

Sonic the Hedgehog is a staple video game character. Decades have passed and to this day, there are still new Sonic games being pumped out. While some of the more recent releases haven’t fetched the same fame and glory for Sega as the initial releases, there is one title that is really becoming hyped up.

Sonic Mania is an upcoming side-scrolling platformer that fans of the original Sonic the Hedgehog titles are eager to get their hands on. This upcoming title will return to the original gameplay and visual art styles which certainly plays towards the nostalgic factor for some gamers.

Oddworld: Soulstorm

A new installment will be coming towards the Oddworld franchise. Oddworld: Soulstorm is an upcoming remake of the 1998 title release Oddworld: Abe’s Exodus, a video game that served as a direct sequel to Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty.

While the bulk of the story will likely remain the same, it was revealed that the development team behind Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus was only given nine months to produce the title which left little time to revise much of the script. Now with the upcoming remake, the developers are able to tell the story as it was originally meant to be.
