Hacking gets way more complicated in Chapter 5 of Deus Ex GO. 31 – Caught Unaware
- This stage introduces two new enemies types – EMP drones and EMP walkers. These special variants block hack pathways, and if an EMP walker steps onto a hacked tile or a hack pathway, it will immediately sever the connection.
- To deal with this map, grab the Cloak mod and use it to destroy the lower EMP drone without getting zapped. Hack the left security tile, then wipe out the remaining drones.
- The tricky part here is getting by the EMP walker. Circle the hack pathway around (and outside) the EMP walker’s patrol so it doesn’t step on the pathway, and hack the right-most security tile.
- When the EMP walker steps into the activated security tile, it will trap itself. Now you can hack the upper security tile and exit this map.
- GOLD Guide:
- Up (1 space)
- Left (1 space) – Hack the left security tile. Move the hack pathway around the EMP drones, and don’t place the hack pathway on the EMP walker’s patrol route!
- Up (1 space) – Get the Cloak module.
- Down (1 space)
- Left (1 space) – Use the Cloak before destroying the EMP drone.

- Up-Left (2 spaces)
- Up-Right (1 space) – Smash the second EMP drone.
- Down-Right (2 spaces) – This finishes off the final drone.
- Right (1 space) – Hack the right-most security tile (on the EMP walker’s route) — follow a very specific hack pathway that completely avoids the EMP walker’s steps. Use the pic below for reference.
- Left (1 space)
- Right (1 space) – Returning to the hack tile, the EMP walker will trap itself by deactivating the security tile. Now hack the upper-most security tile near the exit.
- Left (1 space)
- Up-Left (2 spaces)
- Up (2 spaces) – You’ll smash the regular walker while moving toward the exit.
- Right (1 space) – Exit!
32 – Work Around
- To clear this map, you’ll need to destroy the EMP drone blocking the left-most turret’s line-of-sight. The guard at the exit route needs to be defeated, and the left-hand turret is the only way.
- Use the hack tile to take control of the various turrets. Shoot down the drones, then hack the right turret to safely grab that Cloak module.
- No hack the upper turret, and use cloaking to destroy that pesky final EMP drone. Move out of the un-hacked turret’s line-of-sight next turn.
- Now you can hack the left-most turret, shoot the guard, and make your way to the exit without trouble.
- GOLD Guide:
- Up (1 space)
- Left (1 space) – Hack the upper-most turret first. It will shoot and destroy one of the central EMP drones. Hack the right-most turret next to destroy the only normal drone on the map.

- Up (1 space) – Here you’ll takedown the second EMP drone.
- Right (2 spaces) – Collect the Cloak module.

- Up (2 spaces) – The turret will kill the guard when he goes passive.

33 – Complications
- EMP walkers return in a more helpful capacity on this map. Here, you’ll need to clear the drone and trap the EMP walker in the turret’s line-of-sight.
- Start by hacking the upper-most security tile, then time your steps so Adam Jensen can safely move up and around to the drone.
- When the drone is smashed, just wait for the EMP walker to trap itself in the security tile. Then, hack the last remaining security tile blocking the exit and make your way out.

- Down (1 space) – Hack the upper-most security tile. Wind the hack pathway under the drone so the EMP walker can’t deactivate it.

- Right (3 spaces) – Destroy the walker in your path. They can be destroyed from any angle!
- Down (1 space) – Smash the single drone on this map.

- Right (2 spaces) – The trapped EMP walker will block the enemy turret’s line-of-sight.

34 – Red Alert
- This map is all about how you can use security tiles. At the start, wait for the EMP walker to give you some wiggle-room, then hack the security tile and move past it.
- The odd sight-lines of the turret make it so you can safely move along the bottom row without getting shot. At the second hack tile, take control of the turret to blast that annoying EMP walker, then move back to the beginning hack tile.
- At the first hack tile, re-hack the security tile blocking the titan shielded guard, and complete the mission by trapping the guard on the far end of the security tile, turning it red when he’s stuck on the lowest rung.
- GOLD Guide:
- Right (1 space) / Left (1 space) / Right (1 space) – Wait for the EMP walker to clear out before using the hack tile to open the lower-left security tile.
- Down (2 spaces)
- Right (3 spaces) – You’ll enter the guard’s line-of-sight.
- Up-Right (1 space) – Hack the turret.
- Down-Left (1 space)
- Left (2 spaces) – The hacked turret will destroy the EMP walker here.

- Up (1 space) – Hack the right-hand security tile, where the titan shield guard is held-up.
- Down (1 space) / Up (1 space) – Return to the hack and deactivate the right-hand security tile, trapping the guard on the lower rung of spaces.

35 – Remote Hacking
- This map adds a new wrinkle to the power-ups. Now these augment module don’t just allow Adam Jensen to cloak — he can now remotely hack yellow tiles. Activating an augment module (power-up) allows you to either cloak or hack.
- Power-ups with black lightning bolts are one-time use only, while the power-ups with a filled-in blue lighting bolt will respawn after use.
- This extra complexity makes future maps even more difficult, but this first map is (mostly) a breeze once you’ve got down the new power-up feature. Because power-ups do more than Cloak, we’ll be calling these blue energy pick-ups Augment modules.
- Grab the first Augment power-up and use it to hack the lowest security tile. Cross it and get to the nearest hack tile. Hack the center security tile, the same one on the EMP walker’s route, and move until it gets trapped.
- Re-hack the lowest tile, and move up toward the exit path — y’know, the one guarded by a turret. Get the Augment power-up and hack the turret to kill the lone guard.
- Continue up to grab one final Augment power-up, then move over to the hack tile. You’re almost home-free now. Hack the final security tile, and use Cloak to sneak by the enemy turret.
- GOLD Guide:
- Right (2 spaces) – Collect the first upgraded Augment power-up. Use it to hack the lowest security tile.
- Up (1 space)
- Left (2 spaces) – Hack the middle (right-most) security tile on the EMP walker path. Make sure the hack pathway does not touch the walker’s path.
- Left (1 space) / Right (1 space) / Left (1 space) / Right (1 space) – Wait for the EMP walker to trap itself, then hack the lowest security tile again.

- Up (1 space)
- Left (1 space)
- Up (1 space) – Use the Augment power-up to hack the turret. This will kill the guard.

- Up (1 space) – Collect the last Aug power-up.

36 – Over and Out
- After that tricky puzzle, this one looks like a cinch. All you have to do is use hack tiles to clear a path to the Augment power-up. Hack the middle security tile, then un-hack the left security tile to trap the guard.
- When that’s done, Adam Jensen can collect the Augment power-up and return to the original hack tile.
- Hack the right-most tile, then use the Augment to hack the middle tile. Now you’re home-free. Easy compared to the last mission.
- GOLD Guide:

- Up (1 space) – Hack the middle security tile — it’s the tile directly up-left from Adam Jensen’s current position.
- Up-Left (3 spaces) – Remove the hack pathway to trap the guard.
- Down (2 spaces)
- Left (2 spaces) – Collect the Augment power-up.
- Right (2 spaces)
- Down-Right (1 space) – Hack the right-most security tile. Then use the Augment power-up to hack the middle security tile. The path to the exit should now be clear.
- Up-Left (1 space)

- Up (1 space) – Exit!
37 – Close Call
- This puzzle lives up to its title. It’s all about getting the guard across that hack tile. Start by grabbing the Augment power-up and waiting for him to return to his idle post.
- Next, enter his line-of-sight again, and step onto the hack tile. You’ll be only one space away from him! Lure him past the hack tile. If he touches it while it’s active, he’ll disable the hack.
- Move right, then use the Augment power-up to hack the single security tile. The guard will chase you to the exit, giving you a safe time to cross over to the exit.
- GOLD Guide:
- Right (1 space)
- Up (2 spaces) – You’ll alert the guard.
- Left (1 space) – Collect the Aug power-up here.
- Right (1 space) / Left (1 space) / Right (1 space) – Wait for the guard to begin returning to his post.
- Down (1 space) – Entering the guard’s line-of-sight again.
- Left (1 space) – Drawing the guard out. Don’t bother using the hack tile. It’s a trap!
- Right (3 spaces) – When the guard is standing to the right of the hack tile, use the Aug power-up to hack the blocking security tile.
- Down (2 spaces) – Exit!
38 – Trade Secret
- The walker makes this puzzle trickier than it actually is. All you need to know is this — red security tiles will block turret line-of-sight.
- Hack the turret first so Adam Jensen can get the power-up, then hack the lower security tile (with the power-up) so you can reach the second (right-most) hack tile.
- Use the second hack tile to, ahem, hack the upper security tile that’s blocking the walker. Move two turns so the walker is standing in the turret’s line-of-sight, then hack the lower security tile. With the line-of-sight cleared, the turret will blast the walker. Now you’re free to escape after another quick security tile hack.

- Right (1 space) – Hack the turret first.
- Left (1 space)
- Up (2 spaces) – Collect the Aug power-up and use it to hack the lower of the two security tiles, opening the path for Adam Jensen to reach the second hack tile.

- Up-Right (2 spaces) – At the second hack tile, hack the upper security tile, allowing the walker to patrol down.
- Down (1 space) / Up (1 space) – The walker should now be lined up with the turret. Hack the lower security tile and the walker will be destroyed. Re-hack the upper security tile after the walker is blasted.
