Strategy is something that has been a part of our world for a very long time. It’s often believed that the person or group with the best strategy can overcome any obstacle. Video games put many challenges to their players to see how well they can strategize out of them, and this list will highlight the games coming out next year that’ll give you the chance to show your strategic prowess and then some.

#13 – Mewgenics

Depending on how well you know your gaming history, you might know that Mewgenics was first announced a LONG time ago and was even canceled at one point. So, to hear that it’s back and it might be coming out in 2026 is a bit surprising.

In the game, you’ll play a bunch of cats. No, really, that’s what you’re doing. These cats are going on an adventure through a world that is totally nuts, and it’s up to you to keep them alive and then mutate them so that they can handle all that’s coming.

With numerous options to choose from, you might be surprised by how your cats end up after a while.

#12 – COPA CITY

You might not realize it, but when an event like the World Cup of Football, the REAL football, comes to a country, it’s a mad sprint to ensure that everyone and everything is set up properly for what’s about to happen. There are stadiums that need to be built, access to the event has to be smooth, you need to have plenty of businesses and stalls to get the people what they need during the matches and so on.

In Copa City, you’ll be the one in charge of making that happen, and it won’t be easy. Build to impress, build to last, and most importantly, build so that the event goes off without a hitch!

#11 – Chronicles: Medieval

The Medieval age had plenty going on within it, including leaders having to implement the best strategies possible for their forces to survive. Now, it’s your turn to see how you do on the medieval battlefield.

Chronicles: Medieval starts you out not as a lord, but as a common man who is in the military. You’ll start your journey on the front lines, and as you gain more prestige and clout, you can work your way up the ranks, where untold wonders await you, as well as more dangers.

The path you make will be yours to choose and change course on, so be ready for whatever new options you have and be ready for the consequences that may come from them.

#10 – Game of Thrones: War For Westeros

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is yet another gaming attempt to keep the main franchise alive. They’ve been doing that a lot on the gaming side of things, recently, but this one will attempt to spice things up in a fun way.

In this case, you’ll be picking one of the many sides and factions that helped fill up Westeros and the main plot. Then, you’ll go to battle to either save the world or doom it. If that sounds simple, it’s not. In fact, you’ll have the chance to “change history” with your choices, including who wins certain battles!

So, if you always wanted the White Walkers to win? Pick them and make it happen!

#9 – Disciples: Domination

Disciples: Domination continues the tale of its previous strategy game entry and shows you that just because you stop tyranny, it doesn’t mean that everything becomes peaceful forever.

The queen you fought so hard for is waning in her faith and strength. Her realm is starting to break as a result, and you are called upon to either fix what’s broken or help ensure that ruin follows. What fate will you bring to this land?

That question will decide the many strategies you take, and whether the kingdom becomes something bright and hopeful once more, or succumbs to the darkness that is all around it.

#8 – NORSE: Oath of Blood

How about a different kind of “clash” for you to deal with? Say, one that has to do with “personal honor” and vengeful oaths?

In NORSE: Oath of Blood, you’ll take the role of a young Viking whose father was killed right in front of him, and his home has been scattered as a result. Now, on a quest for both vengeance and reclamation, you’ll have to find your people, rebuild your home, and then take the fight to the monster who killed your kin so that all know that such acts don’t go unpunished.

Build up your world and ensure that justice is served…Viking-style!

#7 – Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV

Now here’s an RTS series that many people will be glad to see return, especially since it means they’ll be testing their strategy skills to the limit.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 puts you in the beloved tabletop universe for another round of RTS action, with you taking command of some of the most powerful factions in the universe. Regardless of which one you take control of, you’ll have unique units, commanders, abilities, and vehicles to wield as you attempt to take out your enemies, one battle at a time.

Play them properly, and the battlefield is yours to conquer! Just be sure you’re not falling into an enemy trap in the process.

#6 – Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes

We have a few sci-fi series from the realm of television getting some gaming adaptations next year, and first, we’ll talk about Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes!

What makes this game interesting is that it’s a roguelike simulator where you’ll be tasked with trying to save humanity from the unrelenting attack from the Cylons. With each choice you make, you may help humanity survive, or make the Cylons’ job easier.

That means it’s not just strategy that’ll save, or doom, the universe, but you’ll need to be smart about how you implement those strategies so that things don’t backfire on you spectacularly. The good news is that if you do fail, you can try again and have a fully fresh run to enjoy.

#5 – Pluto

Wizards are often great powers in the fight for justice, but in Pluto, things are a bit different. You see, you’re someone who has done a lot of “wizard crime,” and you have been locked up because of it. Then, out of the blue, your niece asks you to come find her, and that is enough to drive your desire to get out of there.

The good news is that you still have your wizarding abilities to take on monsters with! The bad news is that you’ll need to be mindful of every move of your hands so that you cast the right spell with the deck you have, so you can survive what’s to come!

#4 – Fall of an Empire

We’ll admit that Fall of an Empire is a much different game in terms of scope and tone than the others on this list. You see, you’ll take control of the Roman Empire when it’s not at its peak, but at its lowest. That means you’ll need to do whatever you must to keep the empire going so that you can keep your reign going.

Yet, that won’t be easy, as there are threats both from without and within that’ll force you to think quickly and adapt to whatever is thrown at you next.

You’re doomed to fail eventually, but that doesn’t mean you have to fail immediately. Good luck.

#3 – Persona 4 Revival

Are we here to talk about the “strategy” that many developers have in remaking titles that aren’t as old as they think they are? Just saying.

Persona 4 Revival is the latest remake in the Atlus RPG series, and that means you’ll get to return to the countryside of Japan, where a small town is being ravaged by a mysterious serial killer. As you, playing Yu, and your friends learn, the television and the “Midnight Channel” are the keys to the case. Can you unlock the powers of your Personas to save the day and those trapped within the television world? You’ll find out…

#2 – Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown

The Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown game will put you in the cockpit of the legendary ship as it tries to make its way home to Earth. Now, if you know the famous TV series, you know exactly how they made it home and the various challenges they took on to make it happen.

However, in the game, you don’t have to take that same path if you don’t want to. Instead, you can take a different path than Captain Janeway did and see if it would have led to a quicker return home, or doomed the vessel before it got there!

#1 – The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon

Finally, a classic franchise continues to grow, and its latest entry will definitely test your skills!

The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon puts you in Zemuria, where the people are scrambling to try and get themselves into space before a prophecy comes true and takes everything from them. That means you’re against the clock to save everyone! Oh, but there might also be a “hidden truth” going on here that will show you even more layers to the crisis.

The game’s turn-based battle system has plenty of new features for you to enjoy and mess around with, which means you’ll need to tactically decide who to use and how to attack if you are to survive!
