Not all games need an official update or a paid upgrade to run better on the Nintendo Switch 2. Some games just run better with no patches required. Certain, specific titles from the Switch 1 library instantly run better on the Switch 2, and we’ve been testing a ton of games from our library to see which ones instantly work better on the Switch 2. There’s a lot more games that you’d realize.

Almost every game in the Nintendo Switch 1 library works on the Nintendo Switch 2 with no updates or patches needed — you can insert your Switch 1 game card into the Switch 2 or download your game through the Nintendo eShop. And way more games than Nintendo is saying actually run a LOT better on Switch 2. A lot better. Many games have better frame rate or faster load times — two things we love to see on the Switch 2.

Games Improved on the Switch 2

Unofficial / un-supported enhancements on the Nintendo Switch 2 can run better (improved framerates or stable framerates) or load faster. Only a handful of supported games gain enhanced graphic fidelity — but many, many games run faster and load quicker. Here’s a list of over 200 games the community has tested so far.
