Monster Hunter Wilds: How to Cook Well-Done Steak

March 23, 2025 by Matt Villei

Grillmaster.

Cooking is an important part of the Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay loop and while Meowscular Chef has stayed back in Astera, the meals players make are still just as integral. While players can make a meal in a tent before heading out to explore the world, it is also important to know how to cook Well-Done Steak. This item can turn Raw Meat into an important healing and buff item that you can carry in your inventory. Getting this steak can be challenging for players that don’t know about it so allow me to help! This guide will show players how to cook Well-Done Steak in Monster Hunter Wilds.

How to Cook Well-Done Steak in Monster Hunter Wilds

You can cook Well-Done Steak by using the Portable BBQ Grill item from your inventory. Equip and then deploy the Grill to pull up a menu that allows you to Cook a Meal or Grill Meat. If you have Raw Meat in your Inventory, you can select the Grill Meat option.

When you select Grill Meat, an animation will play that will see your Hunter put the Raw Meat on the grill. You will need to press the interact button displayed in the top right corner of the screen once you see the color of the meat change from red to slightly charred. This will happen about a second after the meat is placed on the grill. If you do this correctly you will get a Well-Done Steak. This Steak will restore both Health and Stamina and will also boost their max gauges. If you wait too long, you will get Burnt Meat. While this will restore some Stamina, this less-than-ideal meal will not provide the bonus healing and gauge bonuses.

This isn’t where the minigame ends, however. When the meat is done cooking, your Hunter will cut it into pieces. You will need to play a brief rhythm game. Press the interact button right as your Hunter makes each of his cuts. Doing this correctly will get you more Well-Done Steaks with each perfectly cut slice will turn double that steak. If you perfectly time each of the cuts you will get 12 Well-Done Steaks instead of the normal 6.

You now know how to cook Well-Done Steak in Monster Hunter Wilds. Stay tuned to Gameranx for more news, updates, and guides for Monster Hunter Wilds as well as other great games in the future.
