We wrapped up the month of October and looking back; it had some pretty killer new game announcements. We’re going to showcase some of our favorites from the month. Just know that this isn’t every game announced. Likewise, lists are subjective; we’re not ranking these in any particular order. But if you missed out on some of the unveiled games, you can also check out each of their trailers below.
#10 Disney TRON: Catalyst
Disney’s Tron is making a comeback. So far, we know this is an isometric action title with a brand-new storyline. We’re stepping into the role of Exo, a resourceful program that must track down and eliminate the overloads from this crumbling grid. Details are a little scarce still, but it does look like as you explore more as Exo, you’ll learn more about an unexplained glitch that is threatening the grid. Likewise, we will be racing around on a trusty old Light Cycle at some point in the game.
#9 Bad Cheese
We’re seeing more and more of these old-style Mickey Mouse-themed video games pop up. That’s what we’re getting with Bad Cheese. It’s a first-person horror game in the style of the classic era of cartoons. But it’s far from a children’s game. This looks to be an unsettling experience of a young mouse child who’s living with a dysfunctional father. From the looks of things, you’re trying to avoid unsettling your father and being good as you navigate this horrifying world. But what is good in a world filled with demons? It has intrigued us, so we’ll wait to hear more about Bad Cheese and when to expect its eventual release.
#8 Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles
Now, let’s get things back on a more positive note and a little bit away from the depressing one. Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles is making a return. We’ve seen a few Star Wars games make a return to modern platforms, and that’s what we’re getting with this one. This remastered game was initially released in 2000, where we’re following the plot of The Phantom Menace. We’re still getting an action-adventure experience with various iconic characters to play, such as Mace Windu, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, and more. Fortunately, there is also a modern control scheme option here if you’re looking to avoid the classic controls of yesteryear.
#7 Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania DLC
If you’ve been enjoying Vampire Survivors, then this latest DLC is likely one you’re already playing. That’s because it was announced and released this past month. Ode to Castlevania DLC is what you’d expect from the name alone. It’s a crossover with the iconic franchise, giving you your money’s worth. With this DLC, you get over twenty new characters ranging from the Belmonts to the Belnades. Add in a large new map, over forty new weapons, and some additional music tracks, and you’ll be stuck trying to survive the endless hordes of ghouls and skeletons that come roaming your way.
#6 Death Note Killer Within
Death Note is still thriving, as we’re getting a new game this month. Death Note Killer Within is a social deduction game. You’re meant to play this title online with voice chat as you and a group of players take on roles. However, the end result is figuring out who has the Death Note. This cat-and-mouse chase will continue until the players uncover the group member who has the Death Note or if they are all taken out. It’s a battle of wits and deception. Good luck!
#5 Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered
Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered has been unveiled. I’m sure you already know or even played the first set of remastered Tomb Raider games. If you enjoyed those, then you can get the next set of titles in February of next year. Lara is going on dark and more dangerous adventures with The Last Revelation, Chronicles, and The Angel of Darkness. Fortunately, there are options here that allow you to play both the classic and remastered visuals, so if you’re looking to experience those iconic tomb-raiding adventures as they were originally crafted, you’ll have the option to do so.
#4 Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
We knew this one was coming. Sony has been slowly adding their exclusive lineup on the PC platform, but typically after it’s had a long enough run on their console platform. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will follow Peter Park and Miles Morales in a new fight to protect their lives, loved ones, and the city. You’ll once again web-sling around New York City at intense speeds, battle iconic villains, and even dabble with the dangerous venom symbiote threat. If you haven’t already played this one on the PlayStation 5, you’ll soon get the chance to do so on the PC platform.
#3 FBC: Firebreak
Remedy Entertainment unveiled their upcoming multiplayer-focused game this past month. FBC: Firebreak is a three-player cooperative FPS experience that has you stepping into the roles of agents once again. Here, we find that a paranormal siege over the federal agency headquarters has raged for years. Firebreak is the only team built up enough to handle an attack and restore the headquarters. You’re a part of this versatile unit where you’ll work together with friends to fight back against the threat and work to regain control. Get it? Control. See what I did there?
#2 Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition
Who’s ready to dive back into Xenoblade Chronicles X? The 2015 release saw the game come out on the Nintendo Wii U, and now, years later, we’re finally getting a remastered edition for the Nintendo Switch. Overall, the storyline focuses on Earth being destroyed by the outcome of an alien war. Humanity is striving for survival, and you’ll find that a few survivors happened to crash on a planet called Mira. Now, the fight is back on as you seek to bring humanity back from the edge of total annihilation.
#1 Subnautica 2
Finally, we’ll wrap this list up with Subnautica 2. The first installment was a huge hit, and we also received a spin-off not too long ago with Subnautica: Below Zero. But now we have a sequel installment in the works coming in 2025. Details are slim right now, but we’re getting a new planet that we’re trying to survive within. If you’re familiar with the first game, you know what to expect here. That said, if you haven’t played the first game, you definitely have time to give it a go before this one drops. What makes this one a little more notable out of the gate is that there will be multiplayer support. So you won’t have to try and survive on your own. Instead, you can have a game session with up to four players working together.
