Looking for some new free to play games? We have you covered! In this list we’re going to highlight a few upcoming free to play games heading to the marketplace in 2025.
#16 Project Mugen
Project Mugen is a futuristic-style title mixed with supernatural elements. You’ll be part of a sprawling city where supernatural entities can interfere with everyday life, and it’s your job as an Esper to stop it. You’ll be able to run along buildings and use other cool techniques to get the job done, so you’ll definitely want to experiment.
With a city like this? There are plenty of possibilities.
#15 Arc Raiders
When all you can do is resist, you won’t stop until you’re wiped out. In ARC Raiders, you’ll be part of a group that is constantly attacked by enemies from space. You’ll have a brief warning of their arrival and must do all you can to take them out before they return the favor.
Only through teamwork will you be able to survive, and just as important, the enemy Arcs are going to be adapting to what you do and trying to beat you with every wave they throw your way.
Scavenge all you can to give your crew a better chance, and be ready for when the next battle starts!
#14 Deadhaus Sonata
Where most free games are about the enjoyment of the experience and gameplay, Deadhaus Sonata is aimed as a narrative action RPG. From the creator of Legacy of Kain and Eternal Darkness, you play as a member in the army of the dead. With up to 6 player co-op functionality, you and your friends can ravage the lands of the living as you explore the narrative laid out in front of you. Be careful, though; the choices you make during your adventures can have permanent effects on the world at large and your character itself. With long-lasting consequences, Deadhaus Sonata solidifies its goal of being a story-driven game.
#13 Ashfall
AI is quite a popular topic, and Ashfall shows what would happen if it gained control of our nukes. It results in a massive nuclear attack to wipe out humanity. When the debris finally settles, those that survive are left with nothing more than ruins of a once prosperous civilization. Players are forced to try and survive the new world in this game. This means scavenging for items, making weapons, and fighting off whatever foe pops up. Can you survive the different human factions, mutated beasts, and robots roaming these barren wastelands?
#12 Delta Force
The name is a dead giveaway for its content. Delta Force is a military shooter where you’ll work in groups to take on various tasks and missions. You can go straight to the multiplayer or go do a deep campaign mode. Plus, you won’t just be controlling soldiers. You can jump into vehicles and cause destruction with them, too! So yeah, you’ll probably want to sign up for it.
#11 Skate
Many developers seem interested in skateboarding video games recently, so it shouldn’t be too surprising that Electronic Arts decided to bring their Skate franchise back to capitalize on it. While we don’t know much about the reboot, we know that if it follows the pattern of past games, it’ll want to give you an authentic skateboarding experience that will be fun and simple enough to control.
Plus, with next-gen graphics backing it, you can bet that this game will look great on certain systems. Hopefully, there are no microtransactions, which EA seems to be too fond of if you ask us.
#10 Ballad of Antara
In Ballad of Antara, you’ll be a special being known as an Emissary, and your job is to try and reverse the terrible things that have happened to the world around you. The twist is that it’s not just one world you’ll traverse, it’s two. One is the world you grew up in, where things have slowly been going wrong due to a calamity. Then, you’ll be able to go to a much darker version of the world, where monsters roam and you’ll have to fight them and more to change things.
With a young girl’s power at your beck and call, you must save the world or die trying.
#9 Fragpunk
There have been plenty of team shooters over the last several years, and many of them haven’t made the impact that some have wanted. With Fragpunk, it’s attempting to shake things up by simply rewriting many of the rules that you would expect from a game like this. For example, the matches are REALLY short, as they only last a few minutes. That means that speed is everything here, just as much as skill is.
Then there are the “Shard Cards.” These are special items that’ll let you warp reality to help you get an edge over your foes. Use them wisely and get the victory!
#8 EVE: Galaxy Conquest
If you’re familiar with this universe and you want to take things to the next level of competition, then you’ll want to try out EVE: Galaxy Conquest when it arrives. The mobile title will put numerous players within New Eden, and ask them to shape the cosmos to their wills. What that means to you is truly up to you. You’ll have the power to build up a massive fleet of ships to take the fight to your enemies and defend what is yours.
Or, you can take the path of business and diplomacy and build yourself up as a different kind of powerhouse. The choice is yours.
#7 0 A.D.
Are you ready to go back in time and show that you can survive no matter what time period you’re in? If so, jump into 0 A.D., a real-time strategy game that puts you back in the distant past, as you’ll have 500 years to try and create a civilization before the “final year” approaches. The good news is that the better you build your village, city, and culture, the more perks and bonuses you’ll get access to. Furthermore, the team wants to do an extra 500-year setting in the future should the game do well.
So see if it works for you and then build to your heart’s content.
#6 Block N Load 2
Yes, there is a sequel to the “Block Shooter,” and Block N Load 2 attempts to push things forward by literally throwing its characters 1000 years into the future. A bit on the nose, but we’ll take it. Given that everything is now fresh and new, you’ll have the time of your life working through these new battlefields, while continuing the mission of fighting enemies, using blocks to your advantage, takes out rival bases, and more.
The game not only has new maps and weapons to use but also entirely new modes to have fun with. So, load up and block out your enemies so you can come out on top!
#5 Project CW
You might know that “Project CW” is being created not by a certain television network, which has gone to crap in recent years, but by the gaming team who brought you certain “Worlds” of vehicular combat. To that end, this project is meant to try and take things in not just a new direction but an improved one. The free-to-play project will be set within the Cold War and feature all the detail and variety you would expect from a game like this.
Then, you’ll slowly watch as battles get more intense, more refined, and take things beyond what all the other games did in the past.
#4 Perfect New World
There are plenty of MMOs on the market, so when it comes to ones like Perfect New World, it doesn’t so much matter that they’re free-to-play but rather if they are worth your time. As you would expect from a game like this, you’ll enter a massive world that is full of potential and adventure. You and your friends specifically go on a quest to locate a reincarnated entity. Obviously, it won’t be as simple as just finding them, but that’s where the fun comes in!
Create your character to look and play how you want, then throw them into the world and see what you can get up to with them.
#3 2XKO
It shouldn’t be a surprise that someone like Riot Games is taking its beloved franchise into the fighting genre. After all, they have an incredible collection of characters from their MOBA, and that means that they can pick and choose the best ones to put into a 2V2 fighting title. The fact that it’s free-to-play is just a bonus for fans like you!
So, as the name suggests, you’ll pick two Legends and then have them duke it out against other Legends in an epic fight. Figure out who from the roster fits your playstyle, and then work with the fun combat system to get the KO and the win!
#2 Neverness to Everness
Welcome to the city! Neverness to Everness is a unique “open-world” RPG because it’s not actually set in an open world. Instead, it’s set in a singular city, so you and other players can wander around said city to see what pops up in it and if you need to handle things. More often than not, you’ll need to get your hands dirty, as you’ll have to deal with numerous threats of the supernatural kind.
With every day that passes, a new threat will emerge, and that means you never know what might be heading your way. The good news is that you’ll be able to pick a team to deal with them, so you’ll never be alone.
#1 Splitgate 2
Finally, we have a free-to-play experience that might just take up quite a bit of your time! Splitgate 2 is a fast and furious third-person shooter where you’ll use special portals to warp around the field to gain an advantage over your opponents. That means that strategy and style are just as important here if you want to get the victory.
Regardless, you’ll step into the crazy arena and see if you can help your squad get the victory. Then, you can start going after the ultimate glory and trying to put yourself on the top of the pedestal! Your glory awaits!
