3. KING OF THE PIRATES
When the 2013 Uncharted PS4 Reveal Trailer first dropped there was a tonne of fan theories, most of which revolve around this line.
“Every betrayed us all”
So who is Every, who did he betray and why?
Captain Henry Every was an infamous English pirate who operated in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans in the mid 17th century. Despite only murdering and plundering for a reported 2 or so years he still remains one of the most notorious pirates of his day. We don’t know yet whether Every was killed or arrested, only that whatever his outcome, he had a lot of treasure stored up somewhere.
Captain Every’s most famous tale is the heist of a Grand Mughal fleet of ships. He was said to have plundered a massive fortune from the Indian vessels, created a reputation for himself and used said reputation to steal from other pirates. It was only natural that he was often referred to as King of the Pirates.
If all this is true, and we’re to believe the Every line in the trailer, then there is a pile of gold sitting right under Uncharted 4’s key location. Coincidence? I think not.
