5 Of The Best Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Theories

May 8, 2016 by Mason Cade Packer

Are you ready for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End? Take a look at our 5 theories for the final installment in the franchise. Don’t worry, there’s no spoilers here.

5. TIME TRAVEL

Screen Shot 2016-05-03 at 11.48.04 AMThis last theory is pretty awesome, so stick with it. The idea here is that Sir Francis Drake is actually Nathan Drake, from the future, but now trapped- in the past. So yeah, mind blown. Let me explain.

This theory finds its grounds in the multiplayer open beta a few months ago. In the beta, there were a few special supernatural abilities the player could use. These included powers related to El Dorado, the Djinn and other references to events in previous games. However, there was one ability that manipulated time and hasn’t featured in any other installment yet. This has lead fans to believe, myself included, that the supernatural event that happens in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be time travel, or something similar.

The theory is that Nathan Drake somehow gets thrown back in time into the shoes of Sir Francis Drake. He then has to re-discover the same mysterious powers that sent him back and use it return himself to the present day. This would explain why Nathan is so obsessed and drawn to Sir Francis, THEY’RE THE SAME PERSON. It would also explain why Sir Francis Drake was so frantically searching the world for new discoveries. While this theory is completely ridiculous and we admit, a little bit too ambitious, we’d love to see what Naughty Dog could do with a story like this!

Watch out for our review of the game in the days following Uncharted 4’s release and let us know what theories you have for the game in the comments. Keep us updated with your thoughts and opinions as the game rolls out.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End releases May 10 only on PlayStation 4.
