It’s time to pull the biggest heist in Vermund. There’s a vault full of treasure under the big castle in Dragon’s Dogma 2 — and you can find the key by delving into a deep dungeon far away. Some incredible treasures are hidden in the Vermund Vault and we’re going to explain everything you need to know. Here’s how to get the Vault Key, where to find the vault, and what you’ll find inside. And you won’t even get thrown into jail for stealing all this loot.
How To Get The Vermund Vault Key
Before you can raid the Vermund vault for huge rewards, you’ll need to find the Makeshift Vault Key. This is a rare one-use item that unlocks the vault — you’ll only need it once, but it is worth getting. The vault contains one of the best shields in the game and other valuables.
- To get the Makeshift Vault Key, go to the Ancient Battleground in the far west of Vernworth and north of the Checkpoint Rest Town.
- On the east road to the Ancient Battleground, you’ll encounter Oskar. Talk to him to begin the quest ‘Tolled To Rest‘ — Oskar will lead you deep into the Ancient Battleground castle.
- Reach the bell room at the end of the quest. Open the large chest here to acquire the Makeshift Vault Key.
For completing this quest, you’ll also gain the Ancient Battleground Key. Use this in the locked key by backtracking down the bell hallway and smashing the crates. But we’re here to use the Makeshift Vault Key.
Where To Find The Vermund Vault
What’s inside the Vermund Vault? The bigger question is where to find it. The vault is located in the Capital of Vermund — underneath Vernworth Castle.
- Go to Vernworth Castle in Vermund, go to the Vernworth Castle – Fountain Garden.
- Enter the Vernworth Castle Kitchen and exit into the hallway. This is the same hallway attached to the Dining Hall.
- Turn left and reach the end of the hall. There are stairs leading down to a locked door. This is the Vernworth Castle Vault.
The locked door requires the Makeshift Vault Key to open. This entire area is accessible by the Arisen during the day. Even stealing items from the vault isn’t considered a crime. Now let’s break in and talk about your reward.
What You’ll Find | Vault Rewards
Entering the vault, you’ll find multiple large chests with huge rewards — and a pile of gold coins. Here’s a quick list of all the items in the vault.
- Ring of Reassurance: When worn, temporarily increases defense of a pawn after helping them up. (Sells for 5,000 G)
- Decayed Medusa Head: A medusa head that crumbles when you attempt to brandish it. (Sells for 1,500 G)
- Wyrmhunter’s Cloak: A valuable cloak from a renowned Arisen. (Sells for 6,680 G)
- Daughter of the Evening Shield: a powerful shield with high knockdown strength. A mirrored shield that reflects the power of the Medusa’s stone gaze. (Sells for 16,670 G)
- 20,000 Gold
Even if you don’t want the valuables, you can sell them for a tidy profit. Raiding a bonanza of rewards is always fun, so you won’t want to miss this stockpile — especially for the Daughter of the Evening Shield which has the unbeatable ability to reflect the stone gaze of the Medusa.
