Exploring and ascending Tartarus is one of the most important aspects of Persona 3 Reload. Not only is it a fantastic way to earn money, but gaining EXP in preparation for the Full Moon helps prevent you from hard-locking your progression. Every few floors, however, Tartarus will throw a curveball.
These come in the form of Bosses, and these chaps are no pushover. In the early stages of Tartarus, they act as ‘tough love tutorials’ or ‘skill checks’ to make sure you understand the game’s mechanics. If you don’t, you will lose, if you do, you will likely trounce them. The Barbaric Beast Wheel is one such boss. Let’s beat him.

Barbaric Beast Wheel’s Attacks
Barbaric Beast Wheel is a physical attacker at heart. They are a total brawler who deals immense damage to single targets primarily. When we fought this chap, they were landing hits strong enough to two-shot most of the cast. Naturally, avoiding death is something you want to prioritise.
Not only that, but Barbaric Beast Wheel is not alone. This thing comes with two Magic Hands, and these guys love to inflict your party with status ailments. If these land on too many party members, then you will be crippled beyond belief and Barbaric Beast Wheel will have his way with you.
How To Defeat Barbaric Beast Wheel
Defeating Barbaric Beast Wheel isn’t too difficult if you capitalise on its weaknesses and the weaknesses of the Magic Hands. For this fight, I highly recommend you have Garu on your MC as this allows Yukari to focus on healing if things start to go south. Barbaric Beast Wheel is weak to Garu, so knock him down early.
The Magic Hands are weak to Fire, so use Junpei or your MC with an Agi Persona to knock those guys down. Once the whole party is downed, unleash an ‘All Out Attack’ for massive damage. At this stage in the game, it will take 3-4 cycles to defeat Barbaric Beast Wheel. This is made a lot easier if you have access to Garu on both Yukari and your MC as you can unleash ‘All Out Attacks’ twice per turn rotation. Three times if you have a Garu item in your inventory for Junpei to use.
With Barbaric Beast Wheel (and co.) defeated you are free to continue your climb of Tartarus. Be sure to check back for more tips, tricks, and guides for Persona 3 Reload.
