Nitewing is the first flying mount you can catch in Palworld — and you can get it as early as Level 15. At Level 15, you’ll be able to unlock the Nitewing Saddle and craft it, which can be a little confusing so early in the game. If you’re looking for help finding a flying mount and want to learn all about crafting the saddle, we’ve got a full breakdown of information you need. You’ll be flying in no time.
The trickiest part of finding a flying mount is that the saddle technology only unlocks after you’ve caught a Nitewing. You might have everything you need to start flying, but you haven’t caught the right Pal yet. The Pal can be found very early in the game, right outside the starting area. Here’s everything you need to catch a Nitewing and how to ride it.
How To Catch A Nitewing
Nitewing is a large flying Pal and the first flying mount you can find. Find your first Nitewing spawns at the bottom of the hill to the west of the Plateau of Beginnings. You’ll rarely find them flying around during the day and night around the Grassy Behemoth Hills and in the Rayne Syndicate Tower Entrance area.
The Nitewing is a flying Pal, so you’ll need the Old Bow or Crossbow to engage it. Attack with a ranged weapon — the Old Bow unlocks at Level 3 — and it will fly down to fight. Nitewing tends to be about Level 11 so you’ll have no problem taking it on at Level 15 in the starting area. Use a Pal Sphere or a Mega Pal Sphere to ensure you catch it once it’s health is low.
How To Ride A Nitewing
After catching a Nitewing, you’ll unlock the Nitewing Saddle in the Technology tab. You must be Level 15 to unlock. Once the saddle technology is unlocked, you’ll be able to craft it from a Pal Gear Workbench. It requires x20 Leather, 10 Cloth, 15 Ingots, 20 Fibers, and 20 Paldium Fragments.
- Leather drops from Roarush Pals in the Rayne Syndicate Tower region.
- Cloth is crafted from Wool at Primitive Workbenches. To get Wool, build a Ranch (unlocked at Level 5) and assign Lamball Pals to the area. They’ll produce Wool infinitely.
- Ingots are created from the Primitive Furnace (unlocked at Level 10) using Ore and a fire-type Pal. Build the Furnace and assign Foxspark to the base. Once you begin crafting Ingots from Ore, the Foxspark will automatically use the furnace. Ore can be found in huge quantities at the Desolate Church [64, -414] location.
- Fibers are dropped from trees. Cut down trees to collect fibers.
- Paldium Fragments drop from small blue crystal mining nodes. You’ll find many of these at the Plateau of Beginnings.
Like the other mounts, once you ride a Nitewing you’ll be able to use its attacks directly. Hold [Space] to rise in the sky, or Descend with [Left Ctrl]. Near the ground, the Nitewing will recover stamina. My Nitewing came with the Tornado Attack and the Air Cannon — the Air Cannon is a ranged blast that recharges fast, making it a good choice for farming low-level enemies from the air.
