Emblem Rings in Fire Emblem Engage are not only incredibly powerful, but they are the glue that holds the game together. Emblem Rings add a shocking amount of depth and customisation to a series that already has a lot of options baked into the formula. The further you get into the game, the more rings you have at your disposal.
You will frequently bump into a rather frustrating hurdle, however. Of course, we are talking about Maximum Bond Rank. This mechanic forces you to talk to your Emblems to unlock new tiers of Bond. The catch is that you can’t go above Rank 10. Heck, you are capped there for so long, you might start to believe that is the highest Rank you can achieve. It’s not, and we are going to walk you through boosting it even higher.

When Can You Raise Your Maximum Bond Rank
We are going to avoid all spoilers in this guide, don’t worry. Once you have completed Chapter 10, you will start to unlock new Paralogues. These Paralogues are at a much higher level than your current Story Missions, but the rewards are outstanding. These new Paralogues are at places of great importance to your Emblem Rings.
How To Raise Your Maximum Bond Rank
Your first two Emblem Paralogues will unlock pretty close to each other in the story. Simply go to the designated place (one is in Solm, the other is in Brodia). This will initiate a difficult battle against the specified Emblem tied to that area.
These battles are very difficult, often many levels higher than your party if you haven’t been grinding Skirmishes. To win these battles, you need to fight your way through powerful enemies and then take on the Emblem in question. Not only is the run-up to the Emblem hard, but fighting the Emblem – especially if you have been relying on it up until this point – can be nightmarish.
Emblems have full access to their Emblem Weapons in addition to their unique attacks. These can be devastating if you aren’t prepared to have a taste of your own medicine. Not only that, but their stats are very high to boot. Fighting them in a straight-up fight will likely lead to death. This is especially true with higher difficulties.
Finally, when we say “death”, we mean it. Emblems may be your allies, but in these encounters, they are holding nothing back. If you are rocking Classic Mode, then they will cut down your comrades if you give them the opportunity. Make sure to unleash everything you have and take them out in one devastating swoop.
Benefits Of Higher Maximum Bond Rank
You’ve defeated your Emblem and raised your Bond Rank Cap, but what does that grant you? Well, the biggest gain here is the ability to learn far more powerful skills and unlock new Proficiencies – not to mention new weapons. This allows you to mix and match inheritance skills and make far more powerful characters once you spend enough time raising your Bond Rank.
Level 10 Bond is all well and good, but pushing your Rank higher is always a good idea. We would recommend taking on these Paralogues as early as possible. Be sure to save before you go into battle, however. If you don’t want to get stuck in a fight you can’t win.
