Stray: Nightclub Light Puzzle Solution | Chapter 10: Midtown

July 27, 2022 by Peter Hunt Szpytek

Up and down and up again.

There are plenty of puzzles littered throughout the world of Stray, however, most of them are pretty simple to understand and complete. That said, there’s one puzzle towards the end of the game in Chapter 10: Midtown that has stumped players and potentially ended attempts at the “I Am Speed” trophy that has players beat the game in under two hours.

The nightclub light puzzle in Chapter 10 isn’t the most complicated thing in the entire world, however, it’s probably Stray‘s toughest puzzle so having a quick solution in your back pocket for “I Am Speed” runs is always helpful. Take a look below for a solution that will quickly send you on your way to the conclusion of Chapter 10 and into the final two chapters of the game.

How to Solve the Nightclub Light Puzzle in Chapter 10 of Stray

You’ll encounter the nightclub light puzzle at the very end of Stray‘s tenth chapter. After exploring the Neco factory and returning to Clementine’s apartment only to find her missing, you’ll be sent in the club’s direction. To get inside, climb in through the back and you’ll be on the dance floor. Grab the “mysterious drink” at the bar, give it to the robot with the lever handle, plug the handle in, and ride the contraption to the top level of the club. Here, you’ll be faced with three buttons that control how close to the ceiling the lights are.

There are three buttons, each controlling a handful of different light clusters, which means that there are potentially a few different solutions to the puzzle. That said, the solution that worked fastest for me is:

  1. Hit the left button
  2. Hit the center button
  3. Hit the right button
  4. Hit the center button

The solution is really simple and can be done in just a few seconds, but if you hit them in that order, all the lights will be on the same level, creating an easy path for you to jump across to get to Clementine and Blazer. Because Stray‘s puzzles aren’t randomized on each playthrough of the game, you’ll be able to use this solution every time. As mentioned above, it’s especially handy in “I Am Speed” attempts.
