Destiny: Festival of the Lost Guide

October 26, 2015 by Olga Lexell

This guide to Destiny’s Halloween event Festival of the Lost will teach you the basics.

Apologies to everyone who has a full time job, because Destiny just launched their Halloween event, Festival of the Lost. The event will last until November 9.

The event revolves around Eva Levante and Tess Everis at the festively decorated Tower. Once you get your goodies from Tess, Eva has a quest for you: collect candy from various vendors around the Tower. Once you complete this quest, there are three additional quests: Face Off, Playing Pretend, and The Masks We Wear.

Treasure Bags and Masks

The Treasure of the Lost mystery bags are available from Tess. One bag is 200 silver, but there's a discount for buying multiple bags at once: three will cost you 500 and six will only cost 900.

Each bag contains a random Legendary mask (there are a lot: Xur, Petra, Rahool, Atheon, Oryx, and others). In order to complete the quests, you need:

  • The Speaker

  • The Traveler

  • Tiger

  • Cryptarch

  • Atheon

  • Crota

In addition, other items that may or may not appear in the bag are:

  • Paper Glue (upgrades Rare masks to Legendary)

  • Jackolyte (a jack-o-lantern)

  • Flight of Shadows (changes respawn appearance for 24 hours)

  • Festival of the Lost Candy (to use towards a new mask)

  • Paper Scraps (can be exchanged for more masks)

  • Skull Mask

Quests

The quests require you to use the masks.

  • The Masks We Wear – complete a Heroic Strike as The Speaker and kill a Court of Oryx member summoned by a Stolen Rune as The Traveler.

  • Playing Pretend – complete 3 Public Events while wearing the Tiger mask, collect 10 engrams while wearing the Cryptarch mask, and fall off the Tower while wearing the Atheon mask.

  • Face Off – earn 30 crucible kills as an engram while wearing the Crota mask.

How To Farm All Masks

Use your Empty Candy Satchel. You can fill it by farming kills. Each time you hand in a full satchel, you'll be able to get a mask. In order to get candy from your enemies, you must be wearing a mask when you kill them.

Important to note: the masks are Rare, meaning they'll disappear as soon as the event is over. If you want to keep your masks, you need to use the Paper Glue on them to make them Legendary.

If you get a duplicate mask, you can take it apart and turn it into Paper Scraps. Once you have four of these, you can exchange them for another mask from Eva.

New Emotes

These gestures seem to pay homage to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance.

  • Boo (300 silver)

  • Monster Dance (500 silver)

  • Zombie Dance (700 silver, only available for PS4 & Xbox One)

Other Items

  • Salty Engram (basically like a Primary Telemetry)

  • Sugary Engram (basically like a Special Telemetry)

  • Sour Engram (basically like Heavy Weapon Telemetry)

  • Tiny Box of Raisins (all of the vendors on the tower give you candy except Eris Morn, who gives you these raisins)

  • Fruit Motes (basically like Ether Seeds)

  • Glimmer Chew (basically like Blue Polyphage)

  • Void Fizz (basically like Black Wax Idols)
