As a cooperative multiplayer game with many different maps, Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide offers a multitude of challenges for players in each mission. In addition to simply proceeding through the maps to reach the end, it's possible for players to take detours to recover Tomes and Grimoires, special items that award players with additional dice for a chance at better loot rewards.
Tomes and Grimoires both take up space in your inventory, and carrying a Grimoire reduces your entire party's health by 25%, so recovering these items is intended for parties that are up to the challenge.
Not every mission contains Tomes and Grimoires to collect. Maps depicted with a golden shield on the mission selection screen will have Tomes and Grimoires, while those with silver shields do not. These missions are generally more difficult and take longer to complete.
