Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards has landed on Nintendo Switch for Online Expansion Pack subscribers. The charming side-scroller was also Kirby’s first foray into 3D environments, and we’re still in love with the chunky, simple art-style. Who doesn’t love Kirby? And there’s so much to experience — mini-games, secret modes, and more are waiting for you. We’re eager to dig in and fall in love with the game all over again, but some of you might just want to skip straight to the finish line. And you can absolutely do that with an honest-to-God cheat code.
This cheat gives your Kirby save file 100% completion, letting you access every level, bonus level, and power-up in the game with minimal fuss. Want to fight the last boss right away? You can do that! Inputting the code is pretty complicated, so scroll down if you just want to find that code already.
This code was only discovered relatively recently. Enjoy the fruits of the internet’s collective curiosity with the full guide below! And don’t ask how anyone was supposed to figure this out — clearly nobody was meant to figure this out!
100% Cheat Code | How It Works
To input this code, you need to precisely setup the save file menu before loading your game. There are three save files, and each needs to be managed in a very specific way. Here’s what you need to do.
- Save File Setup:
- File #1: No changes needed. Can have a file of any percentage.
- File #2: Must be deleted. When deleted, it will show no completion.
- File #3: Must show 000% completion. Delete the file, then start a new file without loading it.
Next, connect a second controller to Slot 2 — we need to input the code on the second controller to unlock 100% completion.
- How To Input The Code:
- After setting up the save files precisely, reset the virtual console.
- When the HAL Laboratory logo appears, input the code.
- Cheat Code: Hold [L Shoulder Button] | Up, Up, R Shoulder Button, Right, Left, Start
You have to input the code while holding [L] the entire time. Input the code during the duration of the HAL Laboratory logo — if you’re too slow the code won’t work. It must be input before the logo fades out. If you input correctly, a 1-Up sound will play.
The 100% complete file appears in File 3 and gives you instant access to every mini-game, enemy info entry, theater video, sound check song, boss battle, and more. If you’ve played the game before and don’t want to go to the trouble of 100%-ing all over again, this is a pretty great way to skip the busy work.
