Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl served as nice returns to the classic Pokemon formula that the series has been leaning away from in favor of trying out some new gameplay mechanics. The two games were pretty cut and dry remakes of the Nintendo DS classics but they’ve continued to bring players back by hosting plenty of events that feature rare Pokemon.
Just last month, Shaymin was introduced and able to be caught and now with the 1.3.0 update of the game, the legendary Pokemon Arceus is up for grabs.
Many have speculated that Arceus would eventually make its way to Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl due to the fact that the original games were what introduced Arceus in the first place, but now that’s finally become a reality. Unfortunately, however, snagging Arceus asks the player to have completed two Pokemon games which might be too tall of an order for some fans.

How to Get Arceus
In order to catch Arceus in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you’ll need to have a save file for the recently released Pokemon Legends: Arceus on your Switch. More specifically, you’ll need a save file with all of the main missions completed. In BDSP, you’ll also need to have beaten the Elite 4, entered the Hall of Fame, and gotten the National Pokedex.
With all of the completed, head back to your room at home and you’ll get the Azure Flute, a flute remarkably similar to the one the protagonist had in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. From there, head to Mount Coronet to the Spear Pillar. Play the flute there (just how it was done in Legends: Arceus) and the legendary Pokemon will appear. Be ready for a tough battle and make sure to bring plenty of supplies as you’ll be able to catch Arceus at that point.
