#10 Marvel Snap
Developer: Second Dinner
Publisher: Nuverse Limited
Platform: PC
Release Date: October 18, 2022
Marvel Snap quickly became a massive mobile digital card game hit. Players will find that Marvel Snap is a card-battling game where players compete against each other using a collection of cards based on Marvel characters. A few things sparked quite a welcomed reception to this game. For starters, the game matches are quick and easy to understand. Likewise, gathering new cards is relatively easy just by playing the game. Like other card games, each character card has unique attributes to make matches a bit strategic. But to keep things a bit fresh, each game changes up the board forcing players to adjust toward new rules or unexpected changes made within the round. Again, matches are just a couple of minutes long, so if you’re after a timekiller, this might be the game for you.

If you own a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, you might have already gone through Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales as it was released in 2020. But towards the end of 2022, we received Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PC. As mentioned, this is a spin-off game that follows Miles Morales as he embarks on his own adventure of being a Spider-Man. Miles will have a real challenge on his hands as he quickly finds himself in a war within Harlem that will put countless lives at risk.

#7 MultiVersus
- Developer: Tribute Games
- Publisher: Dotemu, Gamera Games
- Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
- Release: July 19, 2022
MultiVersus is the surprising fighting game featuring a cast from the wide world of Warner Bros. IPs. Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, Finn from Adventure Time, and of course super heroes like Batman and Wonder Woman make their appearance also. While DC comics are no stranger to fighting games like Injustice: Gods Among Us or a crossover with Mortal Kombat, these classic characters have made their way into this latest Smash-like party brawler. Rather than a gritty classic fighter we’ll get to see Batman try and beat the tar out of Shaggy and throw him off the stage. Of course, the game’s biggest (literally!) hero is the Iron Giant.

This game is a classic side-scrolling beat’em up similar to River City Ransom or Final Fight. Dotemu Games put their experience on similar games such as Streets of Rage 4 to work, bringing back the classic arcade style brawler to modern audiences with the friendly set dressing of TMNT. Fans of the franchise will get the chance to protect the weak as their favorite mutant ninja heroes while fans of arcade beat’em ups will be glad this game has revitalized interest in the genre.
#5 Overwatch 2
- Developer: Blizzard Entertainment
- Publisher: Blizzard Entertainment
- Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch
- Release: October 4, 2022 Early Access
Overwatch 2 is finally on its way! It’s easy to forget, but rather than a ragtag group of extrajudicial vigilantes and terrorists most of the cast of Overwatch were considered heroes at some point. Of course that all changed and we’re left with the current state of the game’s world, but we still see a glimmer of it in Tracer’s hero worship, a core part of her personality. Overwatch 2 is Blizzard’s sequel to their class-based squad shooter Overwatch. Players take part in 6v6 objective based maps such as Payload, King of the hill, and Control Point (though sometimes a mixture of the two).

#3 Marvel’s Midnight Suns
- Developer: Firaxis Games
- Publisher: 2K Games
- Platform: PS4, NS, X/S, PC, PS5, XBO
- Release: 2022
A new Marvel tactical RPG is coming out this year. Called Marvel’s Midnight Suns, players are going through a narrative centered around a 1990s comic book series called Rise of the Midnight Sons. With that said, it’s loosely based on the series. In this game, Hydra has awakened Lilith, the mother of all demons. Now The Avengers have a new uphill battle to face when going against Lilith. The only means of potentially stopping the demonic beast is to use a new hero, The Hunter.
An offspring of Lilith, The Hunter, is the only chance humanity has at stopping Hydra and Lilith. Fortunately, the character is a bit more customizable for players. You’ll not only get to adjust the gender of this character but also pick through over forty different abilities that The Hunter will be able to use. At the moment, the development team over at Firaxis Games is aiming to release Marvel’s Midnight Suns sometime towards the end of this year.

- Platform: PC, NS, PS4, PS5, XBO, X/S

We see several Lego games launch into the marketplace regularly. These titles offer players a parody narrative based on a variety of IPs. We’ve seen Lego games released based on the Star Wars IP in the past. Now in 2022, we should see the launch of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. As the name suggests, this is a game going over the entire Skywalker saga. Players can go through the whole storyline from start to finish or pick through sections of the Skywalker Saga to complete. As mentioned, the Star Wars IP has been covered before as a Lego game. This time, we’ll find that the developers revamp the combat and give different combos and moves, whether you’re using a lightsaber, blaster, or the force. Meanwhile, when you’re not going through missions, there are planets you can freely explore, such as Naboo, Tatooine, and Coruscant.
#1 Gotham Knights
- Developer: WB Games Montreal
- Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
- Platform: PC, PS4, PS5, X/S, XBO
- Release: 2022
There have been quite a few different Batman games released over the years. However, this new installment actually sees the demise of our favorite Dark Knight. Gotham Knights tells a narrative where Batman has perished, and Gotham City soon becomes flooded with criminals. Now to see Gotham City safe and free from chaos, players will be taking the role of Batman’s closest allies. In this action RPG, players will take the role of Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood.
Each character has its own unique attributes and abilities. Likewise, you’ll find that this game comes with multiplayer support, so you can play with a friend as you progress through the campaign. Additionally, you’ll find that Gotham City is open for players to explore freely. Best of all, there are no level gates, so you don’t have to deal with any grinding to deal with enemies in select areas. Enemies will instead be automatically leveled as you progress.
