The Race On Classic [Mafia: Definitive Edition]
We’ve talked about this infamous racing mission before. This mission has annoyed players for multiple generations — even since the original game’s release way back in 2002. The racing mission is a roadblock in the purest sense. The Definitive Edition remake does add a way to bypass the challenge — you’re free to lower the difficulty and get past this. But some of us just can’t let it go. We have to beat the mission on Classic Difficulty and earn the Supercharged achievement / trophy.
The race demands perfection. You’re driving a super-fast racer made out of paper tissue. One wrong move and your wheels will pop off, or they’ll just bend the wrong way, slowing you down permanently. If you don’t take the corners with absolute precision while also avoiding your opponents completely, you’ll go down in flames. This is an early-game mission too! You’re never asked to drive this perfectly ever again. Thank God.
Theseus & Asterius [Hades]
As far as rogue-likes go, Hades isn’t actually that hard. This is one game most players will actually be able to complete — and that’s the goal. You’re meant to complete multiple runs, unlocking more tools and improving your character Zagreus. But there’s one major roadblock to your escape from Hades — the third boss, Theseus and his minotaur friend Asterius.
This boss is the bane of Hades players existence. If you’re not properly kitted out, this boss can absolutely crush you — and the previous two bosses are easy in comparison. Theseus uses a shield to block your attacks, moves very quickly, and has an annoying buddy minotaur that joins him for the entire battle. Once he’s down to 50% health, he’ll turn invulnerable for a few moments and call for help from the gods of Olympus. As if he wasn’t tough enough already.
Dealing with Theseus is ruin your entire run. Even if you beat him, players often exit the fight so hurt, they’re very likely to be defeated soon after. Theseus might not be the hardest challenge in Hades, but he is the first real stumbling block.
