#8: Invitation To A Party [Hitman 2: Silent Assassin]
Another great open-ended level. The true formula for good Hitman levels was still solidifying in Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, but this is one of the most successful. Here, you’ll infiltrate a high-class St. Petersburg embassy party. The twist is a Spetznaz agent is trying to kill the ambassador and steal a briefcase from a locked safe — the same briefcase you need to acquire.
That means you’re under a ticking clock, and a variety of different things can happen. If you let the Spetsnaz assassin kill the Ambassador, you might lose your chance at gaining the briefcase — but you can also swoop in to save the Ambassador at the last minute so you don’t have to unlock the safe yourself. Each choice leads to a different domino effect of actions, making this one of the best levels in the entire franchise.
#7: World Of Tomorrow [HITMAN]
Probably the biggest map in the series. This beautiful map is simply ginormous, with an entire beachfront city setting, winding streets and alleys, storefronts — and a huge mansion for you to infiltrate. Oh, and there’s a massive chemical production lab underneath the mansion that’s even more secure. This level is a marathon that’ll take multiple hours to complete on your first attempt.
And trying to unravel the spiderweb of different secret murder methods gets pretty insane. This level also gets the most awesome remixes, with entire new areas added in alternate missions set on the map — maybe it’s just we were so excited for the return of Hitman in 2016 that we all fell in love with this map. The fortresses, the reverse-fortresses, the patrolling VIPs and secret lairs? Poisoning food and solving sneaky puzzles to sabotage labs? Too many escape routes to count? This is just an insanely packed mission.
The Hitman countdown continues on the next page.
