The Wabbajack [Elder Scrolls: Oblivion]
The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind made us all take notice, but it was The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion that turned this series into a household name. The game added some of the coolest features that future games like Skyrim would adopt — like the Daedric Prince missions you can randomly encounter while exploring the world. All of these quests give you totally unique weapons or items that are incredibly handy — one such quest gives an unbreakable lockpick, for example.
But the most ridiculous (and kind of useless) of these weapons is the Wabbajack. This magical staff is a reward for finding Sheogorath’s Shrine in the middle of nowhere — literally, the only way to find it is to wander around the map until you stumble into it.
For completing a dumb mission for the Madgod, you’ll get the Wabbajack. Instead of dealing damage, this staff randomly transforms creatures into a different creature. You might transform a goblin into a daedra or a rat. into a sheep. Either way, it is fully healed — making this staff basically useless except as a curious artifact of your weird adventures.
Silver / Gold Pipe [Silent Hill 3]
Here’s one of the weirdest secrets ever, and we’re not talking about the Dog Ending. The Silver and Gold Pipes are unique weapons you can earn in Silent Hill 3 — but only if you’ve completed the game once before. After finishing the story and starting again on NG+, you’ll have to navigate the nightmarish mall until you access the sewers. From there, you can find a new — and extremely weird — set of weapons.
By using the standard pipe, your starting melee weapon, on a pool of water in the sewers where a sea monster supposedly lives, you can trade the standard pipe for a set of silver / gold pipes. A magical fairy of the sewers will ask you several questions — and if you ask honestly, she’ll give you these legendary weapons that are also completely useless. Literally. The Gold Pipe is somehow even weaker than the standard pipe. Why does this even exist?
