Sneaky Stalkers Peaking Around Corners [Dead Space 2]
Even annoying enemies can be pretty cool in concept. Dead Space 2 introduced the stalkers — sneaky aliens that hide and only attack from the shadows. They’re scared of fighting you head-on, so they’ll always retreat if you’re looking directly at them. Think of them like disgusting Boos from Super Mario.
These guys always fight in packs, so as soon as you try to track down one of these slippery suckers, another one will attack from behind. This concept is so cool, it was basically lifted wholesale and implanted in The Last of Us 2. It’s an ingenious concept that’s also designed specifically to annoy us to death.
Invincible Couch Guardians [Yakuza Kiwami 2]
The toughest enemies in the Yakuza series aren’t the elaborate boss fights, the tigers, or the goons armed with uzis — it’s the big guys carrying couches. Blocking your path in several of the mini-dungeons you’ll explore in Yakuza Kiwami 2 (and other games in the series), these buff dudes carry entire sofas as a weapon.
They’re very resilient, so a single combo won’t take them down and you can’t even use your powerful Heat Actions against them. You can use Heat Actions on every boss, and every type of enemies — all except for these guys that carry a lounge set as a weapon. That officially makes them the hardest enemies of the game.
