16 Best Tricks To Beat Gaming’s Toughest Bosses Easily

July 27, 2020 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Discover some of gaming’s most hilarious, ridiculous and obscure tricks for defeating those annoying boss battles.

Use Zombie On Yu Yevon [Final Fantasy 10]

One of the most wonderful exploits works on the final boss of Final Fantasy X. The true final boss, Yu Yevon, is really more of a cinematic battle — you literally can’t lose. It’s still fun to totally wreck this annoying boss and trick it into killing himself. Using Zombie on Yu Yevon turns it undead, and makes any healing magic harm it.

You don’t even need to lift a finger. After casting Zombie, Yu Yevon is bound to heal itself with Curaga. It does this constantly in the battle, and if you apply the undead status effect, Yu Yevon will essentially kill itself with Curaga. It’s hilarious to witness, and ends this final battle even faster.

Ghost Train [Final Fantasy 6]

And the most famous undead boss award in Final Fantasy history goes to the Ghost Train in FF6. During this fight against a literal ghost, healing items will do damage to it — so naturally, an item that brings the dead back to life is the most powerful. Using a Phoenix Down on the Ghost Train boss kills it instantly. It isn’t as fun as using Sabin’s Suplex on a giant train sprite, but it’s pretty close.

That’s all the boss cheeses, exploits, tricks and glitches we’ve got today! There are so many others out there to discover, and if we find more worthwhile ones to add to the roster, we’ll do it. Let us know your favorite boss tricks!
