Yellow Devil Pause Glitch [Mega Man 1]

The Yellow Devil is one of the most aggravating bosses in any game, and Mega Man is already one of those games that coined the term ‘Nintendo Hard’ — instead of fighting like a normal boss, the Yellow Devil slowly unravels, launching block-shaped projectiles you have to carefully dodge. After a long animation, you’ll only have a brief moment to shoot the weak point.

He takes forever. He’s annoying, and he can kill you pretty easily. That’s why the [Select] glitch is invaluable here. When you press [Select] you can avoid damage and force enemies to take damage multiple times from the same attack. Use the Thunder Beam and you can absolutely destroy the Yellow Devil with a single shot. Just jam on the [Select] button to wreck this guy — or any other boss in MM1.

Duck In The Corner Vs Shadow Link [Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link]

The mother of all hard NES bosses, Shadow Link is a healthy challenge for even the most experience Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link player. This shadow copy is extremely fast, able to rapidly block and counter-hit. He’s a sprite whirlwind, just going nuts with his sword and shield combo. Most of us will never beat this guy legit.

And that’s because the trick to beating him is so simple and effective. If you duck in the corner and just attack when Shadow Link gets close, there’s nothing this boss can do to win — you’ll block (most) of his attacks and take him down easily. This is one of the most famous cheese methods in gaming, and we couldn’t write a list without it.
