#2 Resident Evil 3
Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
Resident Evil 2 Remake was a hit for Capcom so it wasn’t surprising to see the development studio continue with their remakes. Resident Evil 3 came out this year using the same engine as Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2 remake, which is quite stunning. This particular game takes shortly after the events of the first game where players once again take the role of Jill Valentine. After the mansion incident, Jill has begun an investigation to unveil Umbrella Corporation’s crimes. Unfortunately, things don’t end up that well as the Umbrella team opted to send out their latest bioweapon to take out all the remaining STARS members that were present during the mansion event.
As a result, Jill is thrown into chaos after the bioweapon smashes through her apartment and attempts to kill her. Furthermore, a new virus outbreak in the Raccoon City limits has turned most civilians into mindless zombies. Forced to work with some strangers, Jill Valentine seeks a way out of the area while also hoping to discover some new useful information about the Umbrella Corporation. Unlike Resident Evil 2, this third installment is relatively linear and a whole lot shorter to complete so if you’re hesitant in jumping into another game that would require several days of gameplay and multiple playthroughs then you can rest easy as Resident Evil 3 should only take you about six hours.
#1 Half-Life Alyx
Platforms: PC
For years fans have been asking for a Half-Life 3 from Valve and those pleas have gone mostly unanswered. However, it was this year that we finally got a new release under the Half-Life name which is Half-Life Alyx. Now there are a few unfortunate things about this game such as this is not the third installment that fans have been waiting for. We’re still hoping that a new game would follow up on the events for the Half-Life franchise but at the moment it’s still very much a waiting game. Secondly, this is a VR video game which means if you don’t have access to a VR system then you’re also out of luck. To make matters worse, the game is only available on the PC which means the PlayStation VR setup is ruled out.
However, if you met the requirements to play this game then you should have a ton of fun. This game throws players into the world of Half-Life and you can’t get any more detailed than that. Set before the events of Half-Life 2, players take the role of Alyx Vance who is fighting off the alien combine with her father. It’s an action-packed game full of big moments and if you’re brave enough to put on the VR headset and dive into the world of Half-Life then we’re sure you will have quite a bit of fun.
