#6 Final Fantasy VII Remake
Platforms: PS4
The Final Fantasy series has been around for ages and it gained a massive following over the years. Each fan of the franchise has their favorite entry, however, there are more than enough fans to warrant Final Fantasy VII as being one of the greatest installments released. It was first brought out on the original PlayStation and it’s pretty clear that some of those games on the PlayStation doesn’t necessarily age all that well. As a result, fans have been asking Square Enix for a good while now to remake the game for current-generation platforms.
It took the studio until the PlayStation 4 to announce the remake of Final Fantasy VII and after several years of being developed, the first game released. That’s right, the first game, as Square Enix wasn’t able to deliver the full game right away. To get the intended remake out into the public, Final Fantasy VII Remake had to be cut into episodes. So far only the first episode is out and if you’re a veteran player to a newcomer, you can relive the epic tale of Cloud Strife as he takes on a corrupt megacorporation.
#5 The Last of Us Part 2
Platforms: PS4
Naughty Dog is pretty great at delivering fans with some detailed and narrative-driven video game titles. During the PlayStation 3, we got a brand new IP from the studio called The Last of Us. It was such a hit that there was a remastered ready to go for the PlayStation 4. This story follows a man named Joel and a young girl, Ellie, as they embark across the country. Set within an apocalypse where society has crumbled against these zombie-like creatures, it’s difficult to trust anyone. It’s a deep and touching storyline that had fans eager to see a sequel release and towards the end of the PlayStation 4 lifecycle, we finally got one.
The Last of Us Part 2 takes place a few years after the events of the first installment. Ellie is grown up and she’s living a rather normal life with all things considered from the first game. Still, her world gets turned upside down by a traumatic event and now she plots out a new quest fueled by rage. It’s another narrative-driven game that has you playing endlessly to see just how the story concludes. This is also a game that has been rather controversial with fans divided, but now that the game has been out for a while and the dust has started to settle, you should be pretty clear of any spoilers.
