#8 Grand Theft Auto V
The Grand Theft Auto franchise has been around for decades and while it spanned across multiple generations, we’re only on its fifth mainline installment. Each game can be considered its own storyline so if you’re new to the series then jumping into this fifth installment will be perfectly fine and recommended. Rockstar Games can make an iconic video game and with Grand Theft Auto V it was clear that the studio wanted to make the most defined and expansive title. That’s exactly what players got with a thriving city of Los Santos where gamers could visit suburbs, the big city, to even the desert terrain.
At any rate, the game puts players into the shoes of three different protagonists. Rather than sticking with one character, Rockstar Games made it to where players could step into the character of Franklin, a new criminal trying to make it big, Michael, an ex-con that managed to get out of the dirty business through some drastic measures, and Trevor, an insane drug lord wannabe fueled by rage and revenge. The trio manages to get their storylines crossed together as you begin to write off past mistakes and chart a new beginning. Best of all, while this game originally came out on last-generation video game platforms, there are still updates that add content for players although it’s content that’s mainly tucked behind the online component of Grand Theft Auto V, known as Grand Theft Auto Online.
#7 Batman Arkham Series
The Batman Arkham series is iconic and a trilogy that has allowed plenty of players to be turned over to the DC Comic series or further explore the Batman IP otherwise. It would be tough to just pick one game from the series that Rocksteady developed, but with the developers delivering three mainline installments, besides Batman: Origins which was handled by a different studio, players can experience the trilogy on the PC platform. Each installment features iconic villains and gameplay mechanics to further give you the feeling of being the Dark Knight in Gotham City.
Again, like other games on this list, you may find yourself having to lower some settings to get the full experience. But still, if you’re a fan of the Dark Knight or simply a fun action-adventure style of game then the three installments developed by Rocksteady have been enjoyed by plenty of fans across several platforms. While we are not too worried over the first installment, the development studio had continued to make a larger area for players to explore such as moving from the Arkham Asylum from the first game to the entire Gotham City by the next installment. With that said, you may find yourself in a bit of a rough patch running Batman Arkham Knight so it could mean making the upgrade to close out the franchise.
