#5: Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis [Unlockable In: Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings]
In this not-so-great entry in Indiana Jones video game history, it’s possible to unlock a much better game from the LucasArts library. By inputting a secret code, you can begin playing the early adventure game Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. Weirdly, it’s also the only way to play this game on consoles — and one of the only ways for modern players before the GoG released updated the game to work on PCs.
- On Wii, hold down Z and input this code in the main menu: A, U, U, B, D, D, L, R, L, B
It’s such a nice bonus, Indiana Jones fans such as myself purchased The Staff of Kings specifically to give Fate of Atlantis a shot. That game has charm to spare, and you’ll get a glimpse of the powerhouse game developer that LucasArts was about to become with their incredibly creative adventure games. And this isn’t the only LucasArts game on the list either!
#6: Prince of Persia [Unlockable In: Prince of Persia: Sands of Time]
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is one of the best re-imaginings ever made, a clever and fun recreation of the exciting adventure that was Prince of Persia. It was such a loving remake, you could actually unlock Prince of Persia by completing the game. It’s just like the old-school version, where you’ll be traversing traps and struggling to reach the end before the time limit expires.
You can even use codes to skip to later levels in the old-school unlockable game. As an added bonus, there’s a hidden Prince of Persia stage you can unlock in the actual game — instead of replaying the sprite-based original, you’ll be in a 3D recreation made in the new engine. It’s a little jarring, but a fun secret to discover!
- Find the secret Prince of Persia level by stepping onto the balcony at the start of the game, and pressing the following buttons on Xbox: A, X, Y, B, Y, A, X, B
