Turtle Rock Studios is best known for Left 4 Dead, a zombie survival game that pinned a team of four players together. Overall, the game follows players going through different maps, completing tasks, and fighting off a variety of different zombies. While the franchise IP is owned by Valve now, the development studio is going to deliver a similar experience with Back 4 Blood. It’s a game that doesn’t have much information quite yet though we imagine the gameplay will be relatively the same. We’re sure that there will be plenty of players interested in diving into this IP as well since Valve has not touched the Left 4 Dead IP since 2015 where the game received character imports from the Zombie Army Trilogy. For now, we’re left wondering when the game will release, or even when we’ll see the gameplay footage release on the title.

Hyper Scape
- Developer: Ubisoft
- Publisher: Ubisoft
- Platforms: PC
- Release: July 12, 2020
- Co-op: Online
- Competitive Multiplayer: Online
We’re seeing more and more games released into the market for the battle royale genre. It can be tough for some to stick out but with that said, there are certain franchises or development studios that people will take note of. For instance, the latest upcoming release that has already gained quite a bit of attention is Hyper Scape, an FPS that is being developed by Ubisoft. Crafted up as a surprise release, Hyper Scape is a battle royale game that takes place in the future.
This is a very fast-paced FPS where players are tossed into a city with their teammates all while sections of the map get removed. From there, it’s a race against the clock to find resources such as special abilities like crafting up a massive wall, or gathering weapons. From there it becomes a battle with your two other teammates to see who stands on top. Of course, with each battle royale game, there is a slight twist to give players something new. For Hyper Scape, the twist is that this game is based around streaming. Using integrated Twitch chat lobbies, viewers watching can vote on different in-game events. This could be anything from low gravity to infinite ammunition, which ultimately adds a slight twist mid-game.
Chivalry 2
- Developer: Torn Banner Studios
- Publisher: Tripwire Interactive
- Platforms: PC
- Release: 2020
- Co-op: TBA
- Competitive Multiplayer: Yes
The hack-and-slash Chivalry: Medieval Warfare game is receiving a sequel. Chivalry 2 was announced within 2019 and the development studio from Torn Banner Studios is hoping to see it release before the end of 2020 but it will be launching as a timed exclusive for the Epic Games Store. There’s not a whole lot of information though we do know that there is a big focus on multiplayer battles.
For instance, the development studio is doubling the number of players able to take the battlefield which will make it a total of 64 players. Likewise, gamers can even ride horses which will make some battles to be chaotic as you clash your swords into the enemy forces. Most are referring the battles to be like the big cinematic fights found in the HBO show Game of Thrones. Here’s hoping that the game actually delivers and gives us the gritty medieval battle experience.
Dying Light 2
- Developer: Techland
- Publisher: Techland Publishing
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: 2020
- Co-op: Online 4 Players
- Competitive Multiplayer: TBA
Dying Light will receive its sequel shortly known simply as Dying Light 2. The video game will retain the same survival horror action gameplay but with a few slight changes. Players will have an assortment of choices to make and each will have a consequence with the story and the in-game world. Traversing the world is also still very much centered around parkour with zombies and factions being hostile obstacles to deal with.
There will be four-player cooperative gameplay but because this game heavily relies on choices, the host will seemingly be in control on the narrative progression. From what the development team has alerted fans so far about the game is that any of your friends can hop into the action. Those that join in will bring over their weapons and upgrades, but the progression of the actual campaign and choices will be determined by the host.
