Star Wars: Squadrons is a brand new video game coming from EA’s Motive Studios. This is a game that puts players into the seat of a spacecraft in a heated dogfight. Set right after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, players will watch a battle between the rising New Republic force against the Galactic Empire. While this game has a campaign that will put players into the role of a pilot for each force, the game will have a heavy focus around multiplayer.
The game is set to have a 5v5 multiplayer game mode where players will not only battle against each other in space dogfights but the goal will be taking out the flagship fleet in order to win the battle. So far, the game is set to launch in October of this year, but we’re still waiting to see what other game modes may be available for the title when it does hit the marketplace.
#3 Call of Duty: Warzone
- Developer: Infinity Ward, Raven Software
- Publisher: Activision
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: March 10, 2020
- Co-op: Online
- Competitive Multiplayer: Online
It was one of the worse kept secrets that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare would receive a battle royale mode. While it took a bit of time, the video game mode finally did come out into the market and best of all it’s completely free-to-play. Overall, the game acts much like other battle royale game modes in that players can either join together in a three-person squad or head into the match filled with just solos. Dropped into a massive map, players will be venturing throughout the map in search of resources such as ammo, new weapons or other objective goals that you may have that week.
Ultimately, the goal is to come out as either the last man standing or with your group being the last remaining in the map. One element that may be a bit unique in that the game features an option to join back into the fight after you are killed. This can be done either by a player purchasing a revive for you at designated locations on the map where you’ll need to use funds gathered throughout your match. Likewise, depending on how many players are still in the game, you’ll enter a 1v1 match where the winner is once again redeployed back into the map. As for the gameplay mechanics, Warzone plays very much like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

- Developer: Raven Software
- Publisher: Activision
- Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, XBO, XSX/S
- Release: November 13, 2020

- Competitive Multiplayer: Local/Online
We knew that 2020 would have a new Call of Duty installment and it wasn’t long ago that we got the official reveal of the game. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the official title for the Call of Duty 2020 installment and much like the name suggests, players are being tossed back into the 1980s during the Cold War period. Set up as a Black Ops sequel, this particular game will have players taking on the role of a special operative attempting to track down a soviet spy that goes by the name of Perseus.
As expected, the initial reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War didn’t offer any multiplayer gameplay footage. That footage actually came out today and we get a few nice little details as to what we can expect. In this trailer, we’re taken to all sorts of different areas around the world. From the bustling city of Miami to the Atlantic ocean, there’s going to be a nice diverse set of map locations you’ll get to experience in this game. What you may also find of interest is just the amount of different vehicles you’ll also get access to.
The multiplayer trailer showcases tanks, helicopters, to even jet skis, all of which look to be able to hold at least two players at any given time. Outside of vehicles, there are some interesting ways to quickly move around the maps. For instance, there are ziplines on select maps that would grant players a fast way to reach certain areas of the map. Of course, there are likely a few other interesting interactive areas around the map. Furthermore, you can expect the infamous zombies game mode to make a return as well.
#1 Rainbow Six Quarantine
- Developer: Ubisoft
- Publisher: Ubisoft
- Platforms: PS4, PC, XBO
- Release: 2020
- Co-op: Online
- Competitive Multiplayer: TBA
Rainbow Six Quarantine is an upcoming installment to the Tom Clancy franchise that will play different compared to past installments. Players will be fighting off an unknown alien parasite that has turned humans into creatures. This is a cooperative gameplay experience, likely similar to the Rainbow Six Siege video game. While we only received a small teaser for the game so far, there is plenty of hype building for the title.
We’re sure there will be some significant differences to this game compared to Rainbow Six Siege, but there are likely some comparisons being made with the upcoming Quarantine and the already released Siege title. For instance, some comparisons are being made to Rainbow Six Siege’s timed Operation Chimera game mode which may give a good look towards the inspiration behind the upcoming Quarantine installment. Unfortunately, we’re waiting on more information to release for the game though we do expect a release within this upcoming year, 2020.

Resident Evil 3 – Resistance
- Developer: Capcom
- Publisher: Capcom
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: April 3, 2020
- Co-op: Online
- Competitive: Online
Resident Evil 3 was announced to have the same remake treatment as Resident Evil 2 from Capcom back in 2019. The video game is going to receive the same narrative storyline as it did when it first released, but alongside the game will be a multiplayer component. Known as Resistance, this is an asymmetrical survival horror game but made to be played with other players joining in. Overall, the game follows a 4v1 mode in which four players take on survivors that are trapped in a maze-like area.
These four players must work together in solving puzzles and defeating the undead. All while the fifth and opposing player is going ahead of the map laying down traps along with placing enemy types around the map. It’s worth noting that the game will not be considered canon but Capcom is putting the game alongside Resident Evil 3 to enjoy purely as a multiplayer experience.
