World of Warcraft Classic is coming on August 26th, 2019 — it might be a few weeks away, but you can pre-register your character names right now. It’s first-come, first-serve you’ll need to act fast if there’s a specific character name you want to claim before the big release later this month.
World of Warcraft Classic is a very different game than it’s modern incarnation. This is a throwback version, with it’s own peculiar quirks from the past. For example, you’ll only be able to create characters on the Alliance or Horde faction sides if you’re playing on a PVP server.
You’ll be able to create a total of 50 characters across all WoW Classic servers, or 10 characters on any single server. That’s a lot questing potential, and it’s all completely separate from the ‘standard’ version of the game you can play right now.
TO BEGIN: Download the WoW desktop app here.
Open the client / Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft from the dropdown menu.
Under Version, select World of Warcraft Classic. If you have multiple accounts, you can also select your account. You only need one account to play World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft Classic.
Choose install and you’ll download the game. Log in, play, and you’ll be able to create three characters fully — faction, class, race, name, and appearance customization.
There are two simple things you can do to prepare — you can join the Classic Connections forum to reconnect with old friends, or you can learn more about RP Naming Policies on Role-Playing Servers. Yes, you can only select lore-friendly names on those servers.
