#10 Nioh 2
- Developer: Team Ninja
- Publisher: Koei Tecmo
- Platforms: PS4
- Release: March 13, 2020
- Co-op: Online
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
Nioh 2 is actually a prequel to the original installment in that it takes place fifty years before the events of the first installment. Within the game, players take the role of a mercenary who is half human and half demon. Even though our protagonist may be pumping demon blood inside, he takes on contacts to kill off other demons that prove to be troublesome. If you’re familiar with the first installment then you’re going to feel pretty much right at home with the sequel.
Combat is a bit like a souls game in that you’re going to be focusing on the battle and making adjustments while fighting. It’s not a hack-and-slash, so definitely looking at your equipment, knowing how to properly dodge attacks and when to strike is key here. With that said, there’s a ton of mechanics they throw at you so having played Nioh originally would probably be a big help before diving into Nioh 2. Of course, if you pace yourself and take time to understand the mechanics then you’ll have an easier time all around when going through this game.
#9 Minecraft: Dungeons
- Developer: Mojang
- Publisher: Minecraft
- Platforms: NS, PC, XBO, PS4
- Release: 2020
- Co-op: Online
- Competitive Multiplayer: TBA
You’re all familiar with the video game Minecraft, a huge worldwide success that’s been out for years now. The development team over at Mojang has a new unique title set within the same universe coming out in 2020. Known as Minecraft: Dungeon, gamers will be going through a new action-adventure title that supports up to four-player cooperative gameplay. Unlike Minecraft, Minecraft: Dungeons does not allow the placing of blocks, instead this is a procedural generated dungeon crawler where gamers can seek out loot.
You and your team will have to navigate the paths, defeat monsters, watch out for traps and solve puzzles. This is a more lighthearted dungeon crawler so you won’t have to worry about specific classes or weapons. Instead, the game will allow players to pick up any armor and weapon to use, which should make a great entry point to the genre for newcomers in general along with a title suitable for younger gamers.
#8 Iron Man VR

- Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Platforms: PSVR
- Release: May 15, 2020

Marvel’s Avengers is not the only big Marvel game slated to release this year. Iron Man will be featured in his own VR video game where players will get a chance to simulate being Tony Stark as you fly to the rescue and take out foes using the specialized MK suit. With that said, don’t expect this game to take place in any of the movie narratives. Instead, this is a brand new story built up featuring some over-the-top moments that we could expect from a Iron Man VR game. It’s not often we get to talk about some VR games but this is one that’s worth check into.

Gods & Monsters is a brand new IP coming from Ubisoft. Announced during their E3 2019 press conference briefing, Gods & Monsters is a unique look at Greek mythology. Interestingly enough, this game is being developed from the same Ubisoft team that brought out Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. After its announcement, this game was instantly compared to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild due to the similar visuals and open world aspect. So far, there hasn’t been too much information about the game released to the public just yet, but we do know that this title features a young protagonist who is granted powers from the Gods before their untimely demise. Players will explore the open world, solve puzzles, defeat bosses in hopes of ending the reign of a mythical creature known as Typhon.
#6 Watch Dogs Legion
- Developer: Ubisoft
- Publisher: Ubisoft
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, Google Stadia
- Release: March 6, 2020
- Co-op: TBA
- Competitive: Yes
Watch Dogs: Legion is the next main installment to the Watch Dogs franchise and it’s slated to come out in 2020. The video game puts players on the streets of London where a new regime has started to take control over the United Kingdom. As a result, DedSec is looking to liberate the city from tyranny control and they’ll need your help. For the most part, each installment for the Watch Dogs franchise has mainly played out the same so with this third installment, Ubisoft decided to make a slight change to that formula.
While players are still taking the side of DedSec, you won’t be taking on any one particular role. Instead, this game will focus on players recruiting multiple NPCs to join in on the resistance and from there you’ll actually be able to take control of the characters recruited. It’s all about the situation or scenario that you’re facing to decide on what character you may need to take the role of. For instance, during E3 2019, Ubisoft presented a level in which the player needed the assistance of a citizen that is skilled with hacking drones. Once you find a character that can hack drones, it becomes a quest in tracking them down and convincing them to join DedSec.
While you can seemingly recruit as many NPCs as you want, these characters are still at risk of getting killed during fieldwork. You could end up losing the life of a character while going through the mission, but instead of restarting the mission with that character, you’ll get swapped into a different character you had recruited. This will keep the cast of characters likely rotating with fresh new faces throughout the game.
